Red-hot Leiker and Konst claim checkers Saturday at Gillette Thunder Speedway

GILLETTE, WY (May 31) - Gillette Thunder Speedway was back in action on Saturday, with an evening of WISSOTA Dirt Track Series action. Troy Leiker and Brett Konst kept their winning ways going with victories in the Midwest Modifieds and Mod Fours.

Leiker remained red hot to start the 2025 season. He redrew the front row for the 20-lap WISSOTA Midwest Modified feature and grabbed the checkered flags first. Tony Leiker, Troy’s brother, rallied from the eighth-starting spot, but settled for second. Austin Long raced from 10th to third, Darin Hauff was fourth and Matthew Drake rounded out the top five.

Konst charged from sixth on the grid for the victory in the 12-lap WISSOTA Mod Four feature race. Steve Schicketanz trailed Konst across the line in second with John Smith third, Brody Grenz fourth and Khi Jackson fifth.

In other action at the oval, Alan Farley topped the IMCA Modifieds, Dino Gronning captured the IMCA Hobby Stock win, and Lane Ferguson scored the Mini Bomber feature win.
