Davis, Murner and Jensen carve out winning feature performances at Black Hills Speedway
RAPID CITY, SD (June 20) - The WISSOTA Dirt Track Series roared to life in the Black Hills of South Dakota on Friday. Brennan Davis, Troy Murner and Clint Jensen notched the victories at Black Hills Speedway when all was said and done.
Davis battled with Ron Starkey in the opening laps of the WISSOTA Midwest Modified feature before he secured the top spot and pulled away to a lead of nearly 3 seconds at the checkered flag. The victory was the second of the season for Davis at the oval. Starkey held on for runner-up ahead of Rex Conrad and Paul Parks.
Murner led from flag to flag to earn top honors in the WISSOTA Street Stock main event, his second win of the season. Leonard Ferguson worked his way forward from fifth to second, and although he closed on the leader in the waning laps, he finished nearly 2.5 seconds behind at the checkers. Cole Phillips was third ahead of Warren Pourier, Jr. and Jaren Puhlman.
Jensen topped Tristan Torres to earn his second WISSOTA Mod Four feature win of the season. He started seventh on the grid, quickly worked into second, and began a back-and-forth battle with Torres for the win. Jensen secured the lead in the closing laps and grabbed the checkers ahead of Torres, Dean Larson, Brett Konst and Khi Jackson.
In other action at the half mile, Mike Pennel earned the Sprint win, Eric Mass topped the IMCA Modifieds and Brett Konst grabbed the Hobby Stock win.
