Gullikson gets big Streeter money while Schulte, Koch, VandeKamp & Bruss bag their own bucks at Princeton

PRINCETON, MN (June 19) - The Dirt Race Central WISSOTA Street Stock Tour stopped by Princeton Speedway Friday night. Though Mother Nature dropped a couple rain showers, the night of WISSOTA Dirt Track Series action was completed in full.

Winners in WISSOTA-sanctioned action included Travis Schulte, Dexton Koch, Jason VandeKamp, Connor Bruss, and Jim Gullikson.

The WISSOTA Super Stocks kicked off the night with Dylan Kromscroeder and Koch on row one. Koch claimed the top point as the green waved, while Dan Nissalke slid into second. Nissalke kept close to Koch as laps passed by quickly. Koch and Nissalke’s lead exceeded 4 seconds as they remained glued to one another. The Supers ran their race caution free, and Koch got the win. Nissalke finished second ahead of Dustin Nelson, Dylan Kromschroeder and Dylan Nelson as the top five.

Jason VandeKamp (Mark Anderson Photo)

Dustin Nelson and Jason VandeKamp led the WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds to green, and VandeKamp grabbed the immediate lead. Ryan Putnam moved to third and challenged Nelson for second, with Gruhlke close behind. VandeKamp stretched his lead as Putnam secured second and pulled away from his competition.

With a few laps to go, Putnam shaved a little time off VandeKamp’s lead, however VandeKamp remained strong out front and took the win. Putnam, Nelson, Gruhlke and Chance Kodet rounded out the top five.

Jim Gullikson (Mark Anderson Photo)

The WISSOTA Street Stock Tour racers filled the quarter-mile bullring, led to green by Josh Long and Tommy Pogones. Pogones had the early advantage when the green waved, before a few cautions kept the field slowed with one lap complete.

Pogones remained in command as the race resumed while Josh Long, Cody Kummer and Jim Gullikson raced three wide for second. Kummer held second, but Gullikson was right to his bumper as Pogones began to work through backmarkers. A caution reset the field, and Pogones had Gullikson at his bumper once again. Gullikson kept close to Pogones back under green, and with a few laps to go, a final caution reset the field.

With the race back underway, Gullikson and Pogones were nose to nose and remained alongside one another until Gullikson nosed ahead. Gullikson led the final two laps and took the win ahead of Pogones, Kummer, Long and Kammron Rose in the top five.

Travis Schulte (Mark Anderson Photo)

Travis Schulte, Eric Lamm and Clayton Wagamon claimed the top three positions as the green dropped for the WISSOTA Modified feature. Wagamon raced into second and chased after Schulte in the lead, as Blake Adams snagged third.

With the race halfway to the checkered, Wagamon began to pressure Schulte. Wagamon dropped low to Schulte’s door, and they were three wide with lapped traffic. Schulte remained in command, but Wagamon and Adams were right there. Wagamon was back at Schulte’s bumper as Adams dove low to challenge Wagamon. The final laps came to a quick close and Schulte secured the victory. Wagamon finished second ahead of Adams, Dave Cain and Zach Benson in the top five.

Connor Bruss (Mark Anderson Photo)

The WISSOTA Mod Fours were led to the green by Connor Bruss and Jacob Husnik on row one. As the green waved, Bruss sped off while others made contact and the yellow appeared. Another caution occurred following the restart that ended the night for a few racers.

Bruss brought the racers back to green, and with no additional cautions, he kept on and grabbed the win. Andrew Funt, Husnik, Hailey Nohner and Steve Froelich rounded out the finishing drivers.

Hunter Morris was the early leader in the Crown Vics. When Morris got caught behind slower traffic, Wayne Nelson closed the gap. Nelson was alongside Morris as they came to the checkered flag, but Morris held his line and grabbed the win.

Marshall Willing led from flag to flag in the Micro Sprints.
