Mom Nature picks up another win at Gondik Law Speedway
By Nick Gima
SUPERIOR, WI (June 19) – Substantial midweek rainfall in the Twin Ports area, plus more precipitation scheduled for Friday afternoon and evening, forced the hand of the officials at Gondik Law Speedway. They cancelled Friday’s race program, which was to include Meet the Drivers night festivities.
“More rain that looks to be coming,” GLS race director Joe Stariha said on Friday afternoon. “(Add to that) the inch of rain that we got on Wednesday and the fact that it rained for 12 hours straight ... the track was super soft to begin with.”
Next on the slate at Gondik Law Speedway will be the induction of the class of 2026 into the track’s Hall of Fame on Friday, June 26. The program will include all six regular weekly divisions, plus a visit by the Northern Vintage Stockcar Racers’ full-bodied and super Modified racers for heat and feature races.
That program will be followed by the 10th annual Great Lakes Border Battle on Friday-Saturday, July 3-4. That special will feature the Structural Buildings WISSOTA Late Model Challenge Series as well as WISSOTA Modifieds, Midwest Modifieds, Super Stocks and Pure Stocks for complete shows both nights.
For all three events, hot laps start at 6:30 p.m., followed by the first heat races of each night taking the green flag at approximately 7 p.m.
