Wagamon, Kromschroeder, Putnam, Pogones and Holtquist hoist trophies after Princeton features

PRINCETON, MN (May 29) - Princeton Speedway continued to celebrate its 70th anniversary season with its Kids Night bike giveaway event. More than 40 bikes were donated by sponsors, racers and community businesses, and many kids went home excited with a brand-new bike by their side.

On track, the excitement continued as WISSOTA Dirt Track Series winners included Clayton Wagamon, Dylan Kromschroeder, Ryan Putnam, Tommy Pogones, and Dustin Holtquist.

Trent Keller and Pogones led the WISSOTA Street Stocks to green for their feature. Pogones claimed the early lead as Kyle Howland moved alongside Keller for second. Howland made the pass and looked ahead to chase after Pogones. Pogones stretched his lead out front, however, to more than 3 seconds as he took his No. 04 to victory lane for the second week in a row. Howland, Thomas Worth and Keller rounded out the field of drivers.

Ryan Putnam (Mark Anderson Photo)

The WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds took to the clay with Nick Shumansky and Ryan Putnam on the front row. Putnam pulled away with the lead, with pressure from Dustin Nelson. Contact occurred among the pack, and a caution was triggered.

Putnam brought the drivers back to green with Nelson and Jason VandeKamp close behind. VandeKamp kept after Nelson for second, allowing Putnam to stretch his lead out front. VandeKamp made the pass for second and began to close the gap to Putnam as the race came to a close. Putnam held on however, and took the victory. VandeKamp, Nelson, Chance Kodet and Erik Gruhlke filled out the top five.

Clayton Wagamon (Mark Anderson Photo)

Brennan Gave and Clayton Wagamon battled during the opening lap of the WISSOTA Modified feature, and Wagamon edged out into the spot. Gave held second, but had Brandon Mehrwerth next to him in the turns lap after lap. Gave suddenly suffered a mechanical issue and exited the track, handing Mehrwerth second.

Wagamon remained in command out front as he navigated lapped traffic with a handful of laps to go. Wagamon drove to the win followed by Mehrwerth, Cole Boston, Travis Schulte and Eric Lamm in the top five.

Dustin Holtquist (Mark Anderson Photo)

Connor Bruss took the immediate lead when the WISSOTA Mod Fours went green, while Andrew Funt, and Robert and Dustin Holtquist battled for second. Funt held the spot, but Dustin Holtquist kept close, and then made the pass. Dustin then looked ahead to Bruss for the lead. A few cautions kept the drivers at a stop-and-go pace, and Dustin gained the lead following a restart, held the top spot for the remainder of the race and took his third straight win. Bruss was second ahead of Ashton Schwinn, Robert Holtquist and Dean Larson in the top five.

Dylan Kromschroeder (Mark Anderson Photo)

The WISSOTA Super Stocks capped off the night’s racing events, led to green by Jordan Henkemeyer and Dustin Nelson. Henkemeyer, Nelson and Dylan Kromschroeder were three-wide out of turn four when the race started, and Kromschroeder edged out the point. Drivers settled into position as the laps passed without issue, and when the checkers waved, Kromschroeder took his No. 9 to victory lane. Henkemeyer, Dustin Nelson, Dylan Nelson and Chris Peterson completed the top five.

The Crown Vic feature was won by polesitter Abe Langager, ahead of Wayne Nelson, Joe Strandlien, Jeff Hass and Marcus Ammerman in the top five.
