Leiker locks up his fifth Midwest Mod win of Black Hills season while Ferguson and Torres top other classes Friday

RAPID CITY, SD (May 29) - Tony Leiker left Black Hills Speedway with his fifth Midwest Mod victory of the young season Friday night, May 29 to highlight WISSOTA Dirt Track Series action at the Rapid City, SD half-mile.

Other winners in WISSOTA-sanctioned action include Leonard Ferguson in the Street Stocks, and Tristen Torres in the Mod Fours.

Leiker started from the pole in the WISSOTA Midwest Mods, and after falling back to third in the opening laps, he raced his way back to the lead around lap six. From there, he kept out front to the checkered flags, taking the win by a little less than a second ahead of Matt Heinzerling in second. Brennan Davis, Darin Hauff and Alan Farley completed the top five.

In the WISSOTA Street Stocks, Ferguson started from the pole and turned in a dominant performance, taking the checkered flag 15 laps later by nearly 4 seconds. Jaren Puhlman, Troy Murner, Warren Pourier, Jr., and Cole Phillips finished in the top five.

Torres worked his way into the lead by lap three of the wISSOTA Mod Four feature and drove off to collect the coin by more than 5.5 seconds ahead of second-place finisher Devin Wolter. Khi Jackson, Urijah Welch and 11th-starter Rob Arlaud rounded out the top five.

In the track’s other action, Logan Hershey (360 Sprints) and Eric Mass (IMCA Mods) were also victorious.
