Estey earns opening-night win at Hibbing along with Broking, Carlson, Paull and Graves

HIBBING, MN (May 30) - Skeeter Estey raced to an opening night Late Model win at Hibbing Speedway on Saturday night, as the Iron Range-area speedway kicked off its 2026 season. Johnny Broking, Dalton Carlson, Garrett Paull and Zeb Graves also grabbed checkered flags in WISSOTA Dirt Track Series competition.

Estey started on the front row of the WISSOTA Late Model feature, took the lead early, and raced away to the win. Zach Wohlers closed on the leader as the laps wound down, but settled for second with Ben Heinle third, Kyle Peterlin fourth and Johnny Broking fifth.

Broking started on the front row and dominated the WISSOTA Modified main event. He led every lap and crossed the stripe nearly 4 seconds before John Toppozini in second place. Jeff Wood scored the final podium position in third, while Jeffrey Wood and Mervin Castle III rounded out the top five.

Carlson started third in the WISSOTA Super Stock main event; he navigated to the head of the pack just before halfway, and held on for the feature win. Mike Vajdl claimed second while Chaston Finckbone - who led the opening laps of the race - finished in third. Tyler Kintner and Kevin Salin rounded out the top five.

Paull took advantage of his front row-redraw in the WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds, and led every lap en route to the opening night win. Austin McClellan started the race in eighth and climbed to second, but finished 2.5 seconds behind Paull at the checkered flag. Justin Jones was third ahead of Andy Davey and Keith Koski.

Graves captured the victory in the WISSOTA Hornet division. He started on the front row and led all the way to score the victory by over two seconds ahead of Tucker Smith, Nick Ruzich, Jacob Petrich and Austin Morris.

Michael Blevins, Sr. topped the Crown Vic feature.
