BEMIDJI, MN (May 31) - Sunday night, Bemidji Speedway hosted “LVI Women in Motorsports” night, showcasing the many talents of the ladies involved with all facets of racing at the track. During intermission the ladies were introduced in victory lane, with 12 women racers on hand for introductions.

In total, 74 cars were in the pits, with the WISSOTA Modifieds having the night off. Winners in WISSOTA Dirt Track Series action included Cameron Labelle, Hunter Weeks, Cole Greseth, Ashton Schwinn, Austin Carlson and Chad Reller.

The initial feature of the night was for the WISSOTA Street Stocks, which were led on track by Chris Dudley and Greseth. Greseth powered to the lead ahead of Dudley and Scotty Messner, and quickly raced to a four-car-length lead before the first caution flag waved for a spin in turn two.

Greseth quickly raced to the front once again following the restart, while Messner edged into second. Greseth was impressive in his first start at Bemidji and took the feature win ahead of Messner, Dudley, Deryk Weleski and Billy Binkley in the top five.

Austin Carlson (Lisa Rhen Photo)

Another fine turnout of WISSOTA Pure Stocks were on hand, led to green by Austin Carlson and Landon Weeks. In an action-packed feature, the veteran racer Carlson battled with the rookie Weeks for the lead, followed by Alex Berg.

Two cautions slowed the battle on track, though Carlson held his spot out front each time. A few laps later Weeks blew a tire and dropped out, moving Berg into second, under pressure eventually from Kade Leeper for the spot. It became a great four-car battle for second among Berg, Leeper, Josh Bitker and Shannon George, as they all raced side by side and nose to tail for the back-up spot behind Carlson.

Late in the race Leeper used an inside pass down the front straight to take second. Carlson took the win ahead of Leeper, Berg, George and Bitker in the top five.

Hunter Weeks (Lisa Rhen Photo)

The WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds were next up led by Cejay LaValley on the pole and Hunter Weeks to her right. The first lap ended quickly in turn one, with a four car slide leading into the turn. LaValley was credited with caution and sent tailback for the restart.

Weeks took advantage of the new opportunity and quickly powered to a five-car-length lead over the field.

The remainder of the field was bunched up tight, led by returning driver Dean Eggebraaten in second followed by Noah Bitz in third down the front straight. Carter Matthews and Blake Higginbotham were in a heated race for third, with Matthews moving up high on the track to take over the position. Weeks took the checkered flag ahead of Eggebraaten, Matthews, Josh Beaulieu, and Higginbotham in the top five.

Chad Reller (Lisa Rhen Photo)

On Sunday a small field of WISSOTA Hornets were led to green by Chad Reller and Ryker Larson. Reller powered to the lead followed by Larson and Aiden Kessler. Mateja Dreyer moved up past Kessler for third, but Kessler quickly retook the position following a great side-by-side duel. Reller and Larson pulled away from the field, with Reller claiming his first feature win of the new racing season. Larson, Kessler, Dreyer and Dylan Black completed the finishing order.

Ashton Schwinn (Lisa Rhen Photo)

The WISSOTA Mod Fours roared on track led by Chris Roller and Ashton Schwinn to the green, with Schwinn the early leader ahead of Roller and Brooke Erickson. Schwinn already had a significant lead when the caution flagged waved the first time for an incident on the front straight, which sent Jordan Thayer to the pits.

Following the restart Brooke Erickson moved to the high side to pass Roller for second. Dawson Oelrich made his move from his third row starting position into third, with Blake Erickson following into fourth. Another four-car crash slowed the action for a restart.

Oelrich was on the move once again under green, charging up into second in turns one and two with Blake Erickson following into third. Brooke Erickson was running a fantastic race before sustaining a flat tire, forcing her into the infield. Ashton Schwinn picked up his third feature win at Bemidji in three starts. Oelrich and Blake Erickson followed in second and third. Roller and Conrad Schwinn completed the top five.

Cameron LaBelle (Lisa Rhen Photo)

Justin Barsness and Cameron Labelle led the field of WISSOTA Super Stocks to the green. The two young drivers put on a side-by-side show for the lead, with Dalton Carlson on their tails. The track was black and fast, as Labelle flew out front chased by Barsness and Carlson.

Following a caution in turns one and two, it was again a three-car war for the lead, with Labelle out front and Carlson in second ahead of Barsness. In a wild finish, Labelle took the checkered flag first, with Carlson and Barsness side by side for second; Carlson got the spot in what was a great race.

In the popular Mini Stock class, Hayden Engen and Cameron Schwinn brought the field of 18 to the green. Engen raced to the lead with Nick McCann and Schwinn close behind. Engen had McCann on his rear bumper and a few laps later McCann made the pass in turns one and two. Following a caution, McCann held his lead to take the checkered flag.
