Chernosky doubles up while Shalley, Randt & Owen outrun Thunder City rivals on Thursday

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO (June 11) - After rain washed out Wednesday’s program at Thunder City Speedway, the track regrouped and welcomed everyone back for a Thursday night edition of WISSOTA Dirt Track Series racing.

Winners in sanctioned action included Cole Chernosky, Michael Shalley, Levi Randt, and Jimmy Owen.

The night was twice as nice for Chernosky, who won in both WISSOTA Modified and Super Stock action. In the Modifieds, he started fourth on the grid, led for the majority of the race, and took the victory by a little over a second ahead of eighth-starter David Simpson. Curtis Stieh was third ahead of Danny Young and Riley Matthews in the top five.

In the WISSOTA Super Stocks, Chernosky parlayed his pole starting spot into the win, running away to a near 9-second victory advantage ahead of Nathan Roy in second. Rick Simpson, Danny Young and Larry Both rounded out the top five.

Michael Shalley (Kelly Sebulski Photo)

Shalley started from the front row in the WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds and hung tough out front, holding off David Simpson by just over half a second to garner the victory. Jamie Davis, Stieh and Tanner Ulakovic were top-five finishers.

Randt picked his way forward from eighth in the early stages of the WISSOTA Street Stock feature race, taking the lead around lap six. He continued to lead the way in the remaining laps and delivered for a solid win north of the border. He was chased to the checkered flag by Kyle Bolt, Darren Wolframe, 10th-starter Nathan Henny and A.J. Keller in the top five.

In the track’s Junior Slingshot feature, Trip Wolframe collected the win.
