Stearns, Arment, Nelson, Adams & Rossow rocket to Friday night victories at Brown County Speedway
By Spencer Heupel
ABERDEEN, SD (June 12) - Brown County Speedway returned to action for its sixth night of racing in 2026. Another good field of 89 cars checked into the pit area among five WISSOTA classes, making for a good night of action.
Kent Arment, Trevor Nelson, Andy Rossow, Blake Adams and Mike Stearns were all victorious in their respective WISSOTA classes.
The WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds kicked off racing action with a strong count of 27 drivers. Adams and Taylor Schmidt were on the front row, and Schmidt led the opening laps until Todd Stark took the lead on lap three.
With the big car count, by lap five Stark began to work his way through the backmarkers, but caution struck one lap later. On the restart, Adams and Stark threw sliders back and forth for two laps until Adams grabbed the lead. As the leaders began to roll caution struck again with 12 to go.
On the restart, 14th-starter Brennon Weight moved up to third and began to battle Stark for second. While the battle continued for runner-up honors, Adams rolled the bottom and opened up a gap on the other front-runners.
A pair of late-race cautions set up a two-lap shootout to settle it. Adams rolled the bottom to hold on and score his first win at Brown County Speedway. Stark, Dawson Zabel, Weight, and Kyle Anderson rounded out the top five.
There were many movers throughout the race, but nobody charged harder than Nick Perry, who improved 19 spots for an eighth-place finish.

The WISSOTA Street Stocks took to the speedway next with 16 drivers making up the field. Chris Serr and Adam Dehne led the field to green, and they battled side by side for the opening three laps until Serr finally gained control. There were multiple lanes with the bottom being the dominant lane, but some drivers were rolling the top.
Jayden Bogh raced along the top as he moved into second place with only six laps to go. Bogh started to reel in Serr as Serr began to pick his way through lapped traffic.
As the field came back around with four to go, Serr made an aggressive move in trying to get by a lapped car, and contact was made, cutting Serr’s right rear tire slowly. As this happened, Andy Rossow got a massive run out of four and wheeled the top in one and two to get around Serr.
The race was then on between Rossow and Bogh for the final three laps; Rossow went back down to the bottom, hitting his marks, and held off Bogh to score his first win of 2026. Bogh, Dehne, Maria Broksieck and Serr rounded out the top five.

The WISSOTA Modifieds were nine strong, but the lower car count did not mean the action on the track was not good. Jesse Young and Mike Stearns brought the field to green and Young grabbed the lead early by rolling the bottom. By lap three, Tony Konold was ripping the lip and took the lead from Young just prior to the lone caution of the race.
On the restart, Blake Adams made the move to race from fourth to second, and then he looked to the inside of Konold. Konold cleared Adams and promptly moved to the bottom. As the race progressed, Kent Arment and Dylan Zabel were the only drivers to attempt the top and it worked for Arment; he began to close in on Konold after grabbing second with seven to go.
The final five laps were a dandy with the leaders duking it out side by side. Every lap it seemed Konold had the better run out of turn four to hold on, until the final lap - Arment found something up top and got the run out of four to score the win by .071 seconds. The win was Arment’s first in the WISSOTA Modifieds this year. Konold, Stearns, Adams and Zabel were the top five.
Trevor Nelson (Cody Papke Photo)
The 13-car WISSOTA Super Stock field was led to green by Kody Lehr and Stewart Schipke, and Schipke grabbed the early advantage. Lehr faded quickly, which opened the door for Trevor Nelson and Bryson North in their battle for second, trying to keep Schipke in their sights.
The battle for second was a tough one, as North raced the bottom but Nelson gained the momentum on the top side. Although caution struck with 13 to go, on the restart Nelson continued to race the top and got past Schipke two laps later. Nelson dropped to the bottom after making the move, while North went to the top to see if there was anything left.
However, caution struck again with just five laps remaining. Following the restart Nelson pulled away while North, Schipke and Dominique Menzia all battled for second place. Nelson went on to score his fourth win in five races at BCS this year, while Schipke, North, Menzia and Damon Hoftiezer rounded out the top five.

Finally, the WISSOTA Late Models came out 18 strong, and a pair of Brown County regulars in Kent Arment and Thomas Weisgram led the field to green. Arment grabbed the early lead.
The pace Arment set put him into lapped traffic by lap four, which allowed Josh Skorczewski and Mike Stearns to close in on him until the caution flag struck on lap seven.
After back-to-back cautions during the restart tries, the third attempt stuck, as Skorczewski and Stearns battled for second until Stearns used the top side to grab the spot. Stearns set his sights on Arment, who was getting into lapped traffic with 13 laps to go.
The front runners were in heavy lapped traffic with only nine to go, and Arment was pinned behind a lapped car. Stearns used the top to take the lead with seven to go. Arment was mounting a charge back on the inside until caution struck with six to go.
After the final restart of the race, Stearns defended the bottom as Arment went up top for the last three laps, but he was just a little too late to build up the momentum and Stearns held him off to score his first win in the Late Models at his home track this year. Arment, Skorczewski, Chad Becker and Weisgram were the top five finishers.
The INEX Legends were also in action with 6 drivers on hand. The race was a good, three-horse race among the previous winners at BCS this year, and Ryan Urdahl came out on top to score his second victory over T.J. Pfeffer and Dusty May.
