Kromschroeder, Smith & Tourville take down WISSOTA feature foes at Ogilvie Raceway
By Tami Jo Kuehn
OGILVIE, MN (June 13) - The Pirtek UMSS Sprint Car Series stopped by Ogilvie Saturday night with its Traditional and Winged cars for the first time this season. Fans also enjoyed a visit from the NVSR Modified and Full Body Vintage cars, while WISSOTA Dirt Track Series action featured the Super Stocks, Midwest Modifieds and Street Stocks.
Winners in WISSOTA-sanctioned action included Dylan Kromschroeder, Keith Tourville, and Jake Smith.
The WISSOTA Street Stocks kicked off the night’s features with Tourville in the early lead. The feature was littered with cautions, but Tourville led from flag to flag for the victory. Levi Randt, Jeff Ekdahl, Kammron Rose and Lucas Boyce completed the top five.
Dylan Kromschroeder (Mark Anderson Photo)
Kromschroeder was the early leader in the WISSOTA Super Stock feature, with Mike Loomis in second. Ryan Kostreba, Tristan LaBarge and Austin Blom battled three wide for third until Kostreba took the position. Kostreba then took second, as drivers remained two and three wide throughout the field. Kolby Kiehl and Blom moved forward; Kiehl passed Loomis for third, but Loomis found his groove and regained the spot, and then took second.
Kromschroeder had his cruise set, while the battle behind him stayed hot, as LaBarge challenged Kostreba during the final lap. Kromschroeder took the victory, ahead of Loomis, Ryan Kostreba, LaBarge and Kiehl in the top five. It was Kromschroeder’s first-ever Super Stock win at Ogilvie.

After a thrilling Super Stock race, the WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds offered fans another exciting race. Jason VandeKamp and Nick Shumansky led the drivers to green and VandeKamp had the early advantage. Drivers were three and four wide on the track as Joey Jensen moved into second. Jensen drifted to the high side and took the top position, with VandeKamp close behind.
Back-to-back cautions kept the drivers slow, but when the race resumed fans were given a show. Jensen and Jake Smith pulled slide job after slide job for a few laps for first. Jensen kept the lead and began to stretch it as other racers remained three wide throughout the 26-car field. As Jensen made his way through the back of the pack, this allowed Smith to close in, and with just three laps to go, Smith made his move to claim the lead. Jensen kept after Smith, but Smith held the point and claimed the feature win. Jensen finished second ahead of VandeKamp, David Swearingen and Adam Bohlman in the top five.
In the UMSS Traditional Sprint Cars, Edison Aldrich led from flag to flag for the win ahead of Jack Berger, Cam Schafer, Hunter Colton and Dan Atchison in the top five.
Willie Ewing duplicated Aldrich’s effort in the UMSS Winged Sprints, as he also led from start to finish to net the checkered flag ahead of Owen Carlson, Luke Nellis, Brett Peterson and Chase Viebrock in the top five.
