Leiker continues torrid pace out west while Pourier and Konst keep other WISSOTA rivals at bay at Black Hills Speedway
RAPID CITY, SD (May 23) - Troy Leiker remains the Midwest Mod driver to beat in Western WISSOTA country early in the season. With his second victory at Black Hills Speedway on Friday, he boosted his season win total to five - the last four consecutively.
Warren Pourier, Jr. and Brett Konst also scored WISSOTA Dirt Track Series wins at the Rapid City oval.
Leiker redrew the front row for the WISSOTA Midwest Modified feature and led every lap for the win. Matt Heinzerling pursued from the second position during the run; he never trailed by much more than a second, but lost touch late. Tony Leiker climbed from eighth to third ahead of Paul Parks and Connor Friske.
Pourier started fifth on the original grid in the WISSOTA Street Stock main event. He was into the top spot after only a couple of laps, and although Troy Murner stayed close after a late restart, Pourier earned his first win of the season at the speedway. Murner was second ahead of Jaren Puhlman, Cole Phillips and Kyle Bertram.
Konst started on the front row of the WISSOTA Mod Four main event and led every lap en route to his second victory of the season. Gatlin Comer chased from second the entire distance, but came up over three seconds short in the runner-up position. Khi Jackson, Lori Konst and Destiney Cuestas rounded out the top five.
Adam Speckman grabbed the victory in the 360 Sprint feature, southeastern South Dakota racer Joel Magee topped the Hobby Stock main event, and Eric Mass earned top honors in the IMCA Modifieds.
