Blaeser remains hot in Mods as Giossi, Redetzke & Kitchner claim Friday features at Red Cedar Speedway

MENOMONIE, WI (May 15) - Red Cedar Speedway celebrated “Local Racing” Friday night, with WISSOTA-sanctioned Late Models, Modifieds, Midwest Mods, and Super Stocks part of the program.

Winners in WISSOTA Dirt Track Series action included Jesse Redetzke, Shadow Kitchner, James Giossi and Kaden Blaeser.

Kitchner got the jump on the WISSOTA Midwest Modified field from his front row starting spot, with Nick Koehler slipping by Travis Anderson to second. Brady Larson and Blake Adams completed the early top five. A caution for a multi-car spin in turn four regrouped the field.

Kitchner led the field back to green, under fire from Anderson, who drove back into second and then raced door to door with Kitchner. Behind them it was a veritable hornets’ nest for top five spots, with Koehler, Adams and Larson all in the mix.

As Anderson fell back through the field to fifth over the next lap or so, Koehler moved into second, with Larson third under heavy pressure from Adams for the spot. Adams drove by one lap later and set off after Koehler in second.

With seven to go a caution for another turn-four get-together regrouped the field. Back under green Kitchner, Koehler and Adams were nearly three wide for the lead to complete lap nine, as Kitchner moved back to an advantage one lap later. Adams pulled into second, Koehler was third, and Brandon Jensen and Derek Haas had cracked the top five. Another caution for a multi-car wreck brought the field under yellow for a four-lap sprint to the finish.

Adams had a great restart as the field took the green once more, using his momentum to slide Kitchner for the lead in turn four. Kitchner crossed him back over and drove back into the lead. Haas got by Koehler for third, before one final caution regrouped the field.

The one-lap shootout to the finish was a thriller—Kitchner and Adams raced into turns three and four side by side, with Kitchner edging Adams for the victory. Haas was third, Jensen was fourth and Koehler completed the top five.

Jesse Redetzke (Chris Burback Photo)

Redetzke and Tate Anderson brought the field of WISSOTA Super Stocks to the green flag, with Redetzke holding the early advantage just ahead of Anderson. Anderson used his high-side momentum to drive back by Redetzke, working the cushion as Alex Myers was third, Leslie Leu was fourth and Jeff Eisner, Jr. was fifth.

The front duo continued to battle back and forth for the lead, separated at times by just .04 seconds lap after lap. Redetzke regained the lead for good about lap seven, and increased his advantage just before the halfway point. A spin with eight to go regrouped the field under yellow.

Redetzke went right back to the cushion back under green, with Eisner getting by Anderson for second, as Anderson came under fire from Myers for third. Scott Geiger cracked the top five in fifth. Myers got by Hillman and tracked down Eisner in the remaining laps, as those two fought back and forth for second.

Out front, Redetzke had driven away to more than a 3.5-second advantage for the victory, while Eisner held off Myers for second. Anderson was fourth and Geiger was fifth.

Kaden Blaeser (Chris Burback Photo)

Blaeser was the early leader from the pole in the WISSOTA Modified feature, with AJ Diemel settling into second, Shane Halopka close behind in third, Kennedy Swan fourth and Justin Weinberger fifth in the early going.

With Blaeser continuing to control the field out front, Diemel remained second, Halopka third, Swan fourth, and Blake Adams appeared in the top five before a caution for debris with 13 to go.

Back under green, Halopka had a great restart and pulled to the bumper of Blaeser in the lead. Diemel was close behind in third with Adams moving past Swan into fourth, and then sliding Diemel for third a lap or so later, but Diemel regained the spot.

Out front it was a heated battle for the lead between Blaeser and Halopka, with Halopka pulling alongside the No. 43 before Blaeser was able to pull away once again.

Blaeser continued to hold about a 1-second lead in the waning laps to garner the eventual victory. Halopka, Diemel, Adams, and Swan rounded out the top five.

James Giossi (Chris Burback Photo)

A short field of WISSOTA Late Models took to the track for the night’s final race, led early by James Giossi with Ashley Anderson getting around Aaron Wilson to second. Wilson then spun in turns three and four and the field was under its first yellow.

Giossi was the early leader once more for the full restart, with Anderson shaking off Mark Hessler for second. Jim Carlson and Wilson were the remaining cars on track. At the end of 15 laps, Giossi’s lead stretched to more than 6.5 seconds ahead of Anderson with Hessler third. Carlson and Wilson rounded out the top five.

Ryan Howe won the drag race to the finish line in a thrilling USRA Late Model finale Friday, while Jon Parish topped the Hornets.
