Henrikson, Leiker and Konst deliver for their fans at delayed Gillette Thunder Speedway opener

GILLETTE, WY (May 16) - Gillette Thunder Speedway hosted its first night of action for the 2026 race season Saturday, May 16, after the originally slated opener was weathered out the prior week.

In WISSOTA Dirt Track Series victory lane at the end of the night were Dan Henrikson in the Late Models, Tony Leiker in the Midwest Mods, and Brett Konst in the Mod Fours.

Konst came out on top of a huge field of WISSOTA Mod Fours Saturday, taking the lead from inside the second row at the get-go and grabbing the victory ahead of Dean Larson by a bit more than 1 second. Tristan Torres, David Jozwiak and Kyle Hardesty followed the front duo across the finish line in the top five.

Henrikson led from flag to flag in the WISSOTA Late Model feature, with Morris Oberle finishing second. Rob Hoffman, Richard Haberstroh, and Bart Taylor completed the top five.
