HURON, SD (May 16) - A trio of drivers reached victory lane at Dakota State Fair Speedway on Saturday for the first time in quite a while.
WISSOTA Dirt Track Series winners on the night included Mike Stearns, Brad Kopecky, Scott Hansen and Maria Broksieck.
Kopecky collected his first career win in a WISSOTA Super Stock at the Huron oval. It was the second win of his career at the speedway, with the first coming on June 16, 2012. He started on the outside of the front row and held off Trevor Nelson, who was the Super Stock feature winner during the opening night of the season two weeks earlier.
Austin Arbogast was third in the main event, while Wyatt Schweigert was fourth and Damon Hoftiezer was fifth.
Mike Stearns (Allen Becker Photo)
Stearns earned his first win in the WISSOTA Late Model division Saturday at DSFS. It was the 10th win of his career at the Huron track, with his most recent win coming on July 4, 2022 in the WISSOTA Modified division.
Stearns started on the outside of the front row and battled Chad Becker, who started on the pole, for the top spot in the 20-lap feature race.
It was the second runner-up finish in a row at the speedway for Becker. Chase Gelling was third, followed by Dustin Arthur and Konner Sperle.
Scott Hansen (Allen Becker Photo)
Scott Hansen reached victory lane at DSFS on Saturday in the WISSOTA Midwest Modified division for the first time since June 4, 2023. It was the eighth victory of his career at the track.
Hansen started on the pole and stayed out front to win the 15-lap feature race. Adam Brotherton, who started third in the 14-car field, gained one spot to finish second.
Jake Wranek moved from sixth to third, while Dawson Zabel was fourth and Jayme Peterson was fifth.
Maria Broksieck (Allen Becker Photo)
Maria Broksieck also capitalized on a prime starting spot to steer her way to the win in the 15-lap WISSOTA Street Stock main event.
Broksieck started on the pole and crossed the line in front of Broc Stout to earn the fourth win of her career at DSFS. Her most recent win was on August 17, 2024, while Stout - who has 20 career feature wins at the track - was looking to snap a winless streak, which dates back to August 22, 2020.
Wyatt Brooker was third, followed by Chris Serr, who gained four spots to finish fourth, and Andy Rossow.
