Friday night’s list of Aberdeen aces includes Becker, Stearns, Arbogast, Rodin and Michaelsohn

ABERDEEN, SD (May 9) - The 2025 WISSOTA racing season roared back to life again Friday, May 9 at Brown County Speedway. With 88 cars in attendance. It was a dry and windy night, which made for a dry-slick race track and hard racing.
WISSOTA Dirt Track Series winners included Mike Stearns, Lucas Rodin, Jodie Michaelsohn, Chad Becker and Austin Arbogast.
The WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds were up first, with a healthy count of 20 cars on hand. Todd Stark and Rodin brought the field to green, battling side by side for the opening laps. Rodin prevailed with the spot, before caution struck on lap two with a spin in turn one.
Following the restart, Rodin began to break away, while Nick Perry challenged Stark for second. As the field ticked off green flag laps, 13th-starter Tommy Nichols moved into fourth and began closing in on Stark and Perry.

As the race was getting good up front with eight to go, caution struck again for a single car spin in turn one. The field was reracked and on the restart Rodin shot out like a cannon, while Stark, Perry, Nichols and Dawson Zabel all battled for top-five spots.
Stark eventually broke away from the pack and chased down Rodin in the closing laps. However, Stark was too little, too late. Rodin held on for the win — his first at BCS this year. Stark, Perry, Zabel and Taylor Schmidt completed the top five.
The WISSOTA Street Stocks hit the track next, with another good count of 19 cars on hand. It was the father-son duo of Jodie and Jayden Michaelsohn on the front row. After a lap-one caution, the field restarted with Jodie grabbing the early lead with pressure from Jayden Bogh in second.
The race stayed green for several laps, as 10th-starter Kyle Bertram moved into third with seven to go. He began to reel in the lead duo as they found themselves in lap traffic. A caution then waved with five to go and brought Bertram right to their bumpers.

On the restart it was a four-car breakaway, as Jodie, Bogh, Bertram and Billie Christ separated themselves from the rest of the field. Caution struck only two laps later as Bogh spun into turn one from contact with Christ.
On what was the final restart, Jodie, Bogh and Bertram raced out to a gap again, and were three wide for the lead for the final laps. Jodie finally pulled ahead coming to the white flag and held on to grab his first win of the season at BCS. Bertram, Bogh, Tyler Schrenk and Kasey Ussatis rounded out the top five.
The WISSOTA Modifieds were next on deck, with a healthy 13 cars in the pits. Mike Stearns and Kent Arment brought the field to green, and Stearns slid Arment going into turn one to take the lead. The top two blasted out to a big margin over the rest of the field.
With 13 to go Stearns and Arment found themselves in lapped traffic, which allowed Dale Ames to reel them in. Ames closed and began battling with Arment for second with eight laps to go. Two laps later Arment and Ames found their way to Stearns’s bumper.

Stearns was able to put a lapped car between himself and the duo, however, and checked out. Garrett Gross tracked down Arment and threw a slider to take third from him.
In a nice rebound from last week’s blown motor, nobody had anything for Stearns out front, as he led flag to flag to grab his first win of 2025. Ames, Gross, Arment and Young were top-five finishers.
Twelve WISSOTA Super Stocks readied for their feature next, led to green by Mark Abeln and Austin Arbogast. Arbogast was the early leader, as Stewart Schipke moved to second.
The lead duo opened up a gap on the rest of the field. It was hard racing along the thin cushion up top. The cushion bit Abeln, which allowed Bryson North to take over third. North wasn’t done there though, as he chased down the leaders and took second from Schipke.
Austin Arbogast (Cody Papke Photo)
As North began to track down Arbogast, the duo found themselves in lapped traffic with six to go. North was on Arbogast’s bumper but couldn’t find an opening or make the bottom work well enough to drive past. Arbogast hung on to score his first win of 2025 and his first ever win at BCS. Schipke, Abeln and Dominique Menzia rounded out the top five.
The win was a very emotional one, as a choked-up Arbogast said in victory lane, “This is my favorite track to run and to finally get this one, it means so much.”
The WISSOTA Late Model feature was the nightcap, with another strong and competitive field of 24 cars checked in. Thomas Weisgram and Chad Becker led the field to the green flag from the front row. As the field came out of turn two, they tried to go four wide mid-pack and it didn’t work, causing a melee on the backstretch, and ending Josh Skorczewski and David Carlson’s nights.

During the field’s complete restart, Weisgram threw a haymaker slider on Becker into turn one, to which Becker crossed over to take the lead. Once Becker had the lead he was a rocketship on a mission.
Becker began to work lapped traffic during lap five and made his way through with ease. By lap eight Becker had half of a lap lead over Weisgram in second, who was under fire from Jayson Good and Kent Arment.
With the laps flying by nobody had anything for Becker, as he dominated, winning by five seconds and lapping up to eighth place. The win is Becker’s first win of 2025. Weisgram, Arment, Good, and 15th-starter Stearns completed the top five.
