PRINCETON, MN (May 9) - Fans, families, racers and crews flocked to Princeton Speedway Friday, May 9 for another evening of WISSOTA Dirt Track Series action.
Winners included Clayton Wagamon, Dylan Nelson, Tony Jenson, Jason VandeKamp, Tommy Pogones and Tyler Larson.
The WISSOTA Street Stocks were the first feature of the night, led to green by Tommy Pogones and Jeff Ekdahl. Drivers remained side by side and even three wide during the opening lap, until Pogones separated from the pair of No. 11s in Ekdahl and Levi Randt.
With the halfway flags displayed, Ekdahl and Randt battled nose to nose for second. Ekdahl secured second and began to reel in Pogones with a lapped car in sight. Ekdahl made his way to Pogones’ trunk lid as the race came to a close, but Pogones held the lead and took the win. Ekdahl, Randt, Kyle Howland and Thomas Worth completed the top five in the caution-free event.

Dustin Nelson and Dylan Nelson led the WISSOTA Super Stocks to the green, with Dustin Nelson claiming first at the end of lap one. Dylan Nelson took second while Dexton Koch, Eric Martini and Dylan Kromschroeder fought for third. Koch secured the spot and caught Dustin Nelson and Dylan Nelson, as Dylan then shot into the lead. Koch moved into second as the top three drivers spread out.
Racers began to settle into positions as laps passed by, and even as they worked through lapped traffic, there were no issues. The Supers completed another caution-free feature, with Dylan Nelson earning the win. Koch, Dustin Nelson, Max Nelson and Kromschroeder completed the top five.
The WISSOTA Hornets took the green next, with Tony Jenson the early leader. Colton Lodermeier held second as Eric Pfundt, Russell Kiker, Jr. and Nikota Larson battled nearly three wide for third. Kiker, Jr. snagged the point and raced alongside Lodermeier for second. They remained close for a couple of laps until Kiker, Jr. moved forward and set his sight on Jenson.
With two laps to go, Kiker, Jr. was to the rear of Jenson, but Jenson held strong and took the win. Russell Kiker, Jr., Colton Lodermeier, Bobie Arnes and Nikota Larson rounded out the top five in yet another caution-free feature.

Jason VandeKamp (Mark Anderson Photo)
In the WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds, 28 drivers came to battle at the bullring, and 20 lucky drivers made the feature race. Ryan Putnam and Jason VandeKamp led the drivers to the flagstand and Putnam grabbed the early lead. VandeKamp held second while Joey Jensen and Ashley Boyum fought for third. Six laps were scored just as leaders began to catch slower traffic and the yellow flag appeared.
Putnam was in command for the restart, followed by VandeKamp and Jensen. Drivers raced closely in the turns as the race resumed, but began to shake out into positions at the halfway point of the race. Putnam and Jensen were spread out as they held first and second, while VandeKamp and Wyatt Boyum raced nose to nose for third. With a few laps to go, a final caution was triggered.
Following the restart, Putnam began feeling the heat of VandeKamp and Jensen. VandeKamp ran the high groove and raced side by side with the leader, edging out into the top point and leading the closing laps to secure the win. Putnam, Jensen, Wyatt Boyum and Ashley Boyum were the remaining top-five finishers.
Travis Schulte and Clayton Wagamon remained glued to one another the opening laps of the WISSOTA Modified feature, while Dave Cain, Eric Lamm and Brandon Copp raced three wide for third. Schulte and Wagamon swapped the lead back and forth, with neither driver letting the other get away. With seven laps complete, Wagamon finally secured the top spot and Schulte held second, but the yellow then waved.
Wagamon brought the drivers back to green but Schulte and Copp made the fight three wide as they entered turn one. Wagamon retained the lead with Schulte and Cain in tow. Wagamon was still in command as the laps wound down, and he drove on to the victory. Schulte, Cain, Copp and JT Johnson were the remaining top-five finishers.
Tyler Larson (Mark Anderson Photo)
The WISSOTA Mod Fours closed out the race program, with Tyler Larson the early leader. Doug Frederick and Ashton Schwinn raced door to door for second as the yellow flew.
As Larson led the field back to green, Connor Bruss, Schwinn and Frederick were nearly three wide for second. Schwinn secured the point and moved ahead while others continued three-wide racing. Bruss came back to challenge Schwinn, and they had the race leader within an arm’s reach. Larson began to grow his advantage, and had driven away from the rest of his top-five challengers when the yellow few with a few laps to go.
Larson brought the racers back to green, though contact was made as those behind Larson raced three wide once again. The race stayed green, but there was quite the shuffling of position before the checkered flag. Larson led the remaining laps and took the win, while Rowan Tramm, Connor Bruss, Dustin Holtquist and Robert Holtquist completed the top five.
