Johnson and Holtquist draw first blood at North Central Speedway opener

BRAINERD, MN (April 26) - Tim Johnson and Dustin Holtquist drew first blood in the battle for top honors to begin the 2025 season, as they each won their respective WISSOTA Dirt Track Series features at North Central Speedway Saturday night.

The track, located in Brainerd, MN, was able to open for its first night of the year even despite the chilly conditions.

In the Super Stocks Johnson — the former multi-time WISSOTA National Champion — started from the front row and gained the lead right away. His advantage was more than 3 seconds at the checkered flag ahead of Matt Sparby, who had to settle for second. Mikey Vajdl, Nick Schultz and Bailey Rosch were top five finishers.

In the Mod Fours Holtquist, another former National Champion, drove from the pole to victory lane ahead of a strong field of competitors. Chad Erlandson, Dean Larson, Ashton Schwinn and Rowan Tramm rounded out the top five.

North Central hosted several other classes Saturday night, and winners included Aaron Johnson (Mods), Mark Martini (Sport Mods), Johnson again in the Stock Cars, Mark Johnson (Hobby Stocks), Travis Roush (Sport Compacts), and Owen Henrichs (Micro Sprints).
