Adams, Bawden, Smith, Hess, Tramm and Arnes blow past open gates and racing rivals at Granite City
SAUK RAPIDS, MN (April 27) - A nice group of locals and visiting wheelmen and women made their way to central Minnesota Sunday night, as Granite City Motor Park swung open its gates to the 2025 season.
When the final checkered flag fell, Blake Adams, Tommy Bawden, Jake Smith, Trey Hess, Rowan Tramm, and Bobie Arnes had all collected the opening-night honors in WISSOTA Dirt Track Series action.
Adams started from the pole in the WISSOTA Modifieds and was scored the leader for all 15-laps, holding off former WISSOTA National Champion Shane Sabraski for the win by about a second and a half. Brandon Mehrwerth, Joseph Thomas, and Dano Ostrander were top-five finishers.
Hess was the early leader in the WISSOTA Street Stock feature from the front row, and he garnered the eventual victory ahead of Kolton Brauer, Weston Ramsrud, Charlie Shiek, and Braedyn Fleck.
In the WISSOTA Super Stocks, class newcomer Bawden was up to the task Sunday night, making his way from third to the lead around lap eight and taking home his first-ever win in the class ahead of WISSOTA National Championship powerhouses and tough competitors like Dexton Koch and Shane Sabraski, Austin Niemeyer and Denis Czech in the top five.
After a side-by-side battle with Mark Martini in the early laps of the WISSOTA Midwest Mod feature, Smith took control and set sail to victory lane, grabbing the win ahead of Blake Adams, Jake Hagemann, Ryan Putnam, and Patrick McCarthy in the top five.
In the WISSOTA Mod Fours, Tramm started outside of row two, and moved into the lead following a restart with a handful of laps to go. He hung on to score the victory ahead of 13th-starter and hard charger Dustin Holtquist, who had to settle for second. Blake Hawker was third, Robert Holtquist was fourth and Chad Erlandson completed the top five.
Arnes drove from outside row two in the WISSOTA Hornets for his first win of the 2025 season. He was followed to the checkered flags by Anthony Jenson, Chase Pourrier, Austin Jacobson and Brady Fosso in the top five.
