HICKSON, ND - National championships are second nature to Hickson, North Dakota’s Tyler Peterson. The 2025 WISSOTA Late Model National Champion, Peterson garnered his fifth-straight national championship between the Modified and Late Model classes in WISSOTA.

He drove to 16 Late Model wins this season, including the Jamestown Stock Car Stampede title, and those wins were complemented by five Modified victories.

A graduate of Minnesota State University-Moorhead in 2018, Peterson is a metal fabricator at Allfab Railings and Metalworks when he’s not working on both race cars in the race shop.

Though many racers can only dream of having the success Peterson has had on the dirt tracks of the Midwest, perhaps his greatest achievement was becoming a dad to his daughter Mila this past season. Peterson also has support from his dad, Matt; his mom, Donna; his sister Emily; and of course, his wife Sierra.

All The Dirt! Racing News: What was your favorite racing-related memory from the 2025 season?

Tyler Peterson: Being surrounded with all my racing friends and family.

ATD: What was the low light, racing related, of the 2025 season?

Peterson: [My] Late Model program had some inconsistencies.

ATD: From a wider perspective, what are a few of your favorite moments from your career to this point?

Peterson: Winning the Gateway Dirt Nationals in the Modified in 2021 and winning five consecutive WISSOTA National Championships between the Mod and Late Model.

ATD: What is your favorite event of the year and why?

Peterson: [The] John Seitz Memorial; [it] needs no explanation, it’s simply the best.

ATD: Is there a race or race track you have never raced in/at, and why do you want to race there?

Peterson: Not many I haven’t raced at, but I’d love to get to Deer Creek [Speedway] one of these years.

ATD: What will be your favorite part of the offseason, as we head toward late 2025 and early 2026, for you?

Peterson: Spending time with my new little one, Mila. She is my whole world and I can’t wait to bring her with racing next year.

ATD: You’ve had great success in a variety of classes now. Which class is your favorite to race in, and why?

Peterson: I always tell people I like to race Modifieds more, but I like to drive Late Models, if that makes sense. Late Model racing can notoriously get pretty lame and follow the leader.

ATD: What are your racing plans for 2026?

Peterson: Probably the Challenge Series again, but not 100 percent; we’ll see what the schedule has in store.

ATD: Who are your sponsors you’d like to thank?

Peterson: Aggressive Towing; High Power Crane Services; Northwest Autobody; QuickLift by Tp Fabricating; Allfab Railings and Metalworks; Powdercoat Specialists; KOC Beebe Agency; Heinrich Excavating; Hanson Ag Service; Fastenal; The Pit Stop of Clifford, ND; Thiele Family Farms; Rocket Chassis; and Fox Shocks.
