A get-together involving Doug Koski and Shawn McFadden forced a three-lap dash to the checkered flag, but throughout it all Myers led the field through every restart and kept all challengers at bay, gaining enough momentum over the last run for a .75-second final cushion. Nelson, Simpson, 12th-starter Austin Blom, and Kiehl completed the top five.
Jensen is also in the middle of a tight national championship points race in the WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds, and he took the lead just before mid-race of that division’s 20-lap feature for his first career Northern Nationals feature win.
Polestarter Cole Boston got the edge on Justin Bassa, Jensen, and Mikey Blevins through the first pair of turns, but Jensen raced past for second before the end of lap one. Jason VandeKamp ran a strong first few laps and quickly made his way to fourth, but Tyler Vernon - also battling for the national crown - was just a bit stronger and took third from Bassa on lap three.
VandeKamp got by Vernon a lap later and tried to keep pace with the lead pair, where Boston fought back Jensen’s threats for a few laps. But on lap eight Jensen worked his way past Boston for what would turn out to be the winning move.
Jensen was already passing the tail-end of the field by lap 12 and built his lead to more than 1.6 seconds before GLS Midwest Mod points champ Ryan Savoy’s car slowed under the flagstand with three laps remaining. Vernon slipped past both VandeKamp and Boston on the restart and stayed with Jensen over the remaining laps. Jensen bobbled a bit through turn two on the white-flag lap, and Vernon shaved a bit more off of the small gap, but Jensen held on for a scant .3 of a second margin.
VandeKamp took third away from Boston on the final trip around, and Garrett Paull ran a steady race-long fifth.
