Big Sky Speedway puts a lid on 2026 with a doubleheader; night one winners are Searing, Cepak and Petroff

BILLINGS, MT (September 25) - Big Sky Speedway hosted a two-day show to close out September racing action.

The first night of the weekend included WISSOTA Late Models, Midwest Mods and Street Stocks, and was billed as Street Stock Shootout night. Winners in WISSOTA-sanctioned action included Robert Petroff, Cole Searing and Troy Cepak, Jr.

In the WISSOTA Street Stock headliner, Petroff started in fourth and took the lead with just three laps to go. He held off front-row starter Dillon Hoppe by a scant .048 of a second to garner the checkered flag. Dalton Stephenson, Dylan Stephenson and Ronn Green completed the top five.

Searing benefitted from a front row start in the WISSOTA Late Model feature. He led from start to finish for the victory ahead of Dan Henrikson, who improved three spots to second. Jeremy McCune, Jim Harris and Beau Nave rounded out the top five.

In the WISSOTA Midwest Mods, Cepak worked his way forward from sixth at the start, taking the lead with just two laps to go. He crossed under the checkered flag just shy of 1 second ahead of eighth-starter Brady Lorenz in second. Michael Rogers improved six spots to finish third, while 17th-starter Ryan Nash charged to fourth at the checkered. Travis Wagner was fifth.

Big Sky also hosted the RaceSaver Sprints and the IMCA Sport Compacts Friday night as part of the program. Robert Donmyer won the Sport Compact feature, while Trever Kirkland came from 10th to grab the Sprint feature.
