For second straight year, Sabraski speeds to WISSOTA 100 Super Stock Championship Feature victory

FERGUS FALLS, MN (September 19) - For the second year in a row, and for the third time in the last six years, Shane Sabraski claimed the WISSOTA 100 Championship Feature in the Super Stock division. Sabraski led every lap, but had to fend off a pair of challengers to earn the right to roll into victory lane.

Sabraski, William Lund and Dylan Nelson comprised the front row for the start of the 40-lap WISSOTA Super Stock main event. Sabraski grabbed the lead into turn one, and Nelson stayed close at the completion of lap one. Lund held onto third, and Dalton Carlson was fourth a short distance behind the lead trio. Austin Niemeyer and Dexton Koch put pressure on Carlson for a spot in the top five. The top three remained close before the first caution for Cameron Labelle with five laps complete.

The top three broke away from the pack again, and Niemeyer assumed fourth ahead of Carlson and a large pack of cars looking to move forward. Sabraski opened a little breathing room over Nelson, and both pulled away from Lund before the next caution with 10 laps scored.

Niemeyer slipped around Lund for third on lap 12, while Nelson continued to chase Sabraski at the front of the field. Slightly after a caution for a spin, Denis Czech had mechanical failure and spun to give up a top-10 run.

The top two pulled away from the pack after the restart, and Lund tried to reclaim third from Niemeyer. Dexton Koch was fifth by lap 16, before a caution flag for Jayden Friauf’s damaged race car on the backstretch.

Niemeyer looked under Nelson for second after the restart, and Lund and Koch remained close to that battle. Carlson’s good run came to an end when he slowed to a stop against the wall with 17 laps scored.

Niemeyer took over second, and R.C. Geiss made a thread-the-needle move between Koch and Lund before the caution waved again for a stalled car with one more lap scored.

Nelson reclaimed second, and Niemeyer, Lund and Geiss battled on his bumper. Sabraski pulled away again, and Lund was third at the halfway mark. Contact down the back chute sent top-10 runner Trevor Nelson through the infield with a damaged race car, and brought out the caution flag with 22 laps scored.

Geiss grabbed third after the restart, but Lund and Niemeyer stayed on him. Koch was close to that battle as well while 26th-starter Tim Johnson led a scramble in seventh. Nelson caught Sabraski with 14 laps to go, and Geiss led the race for third a bit behind the leaders. Nelson ducked to the inside of Sabraski, and searched for speed to make a pass for the lead. Sabraski was able to open a little breathing room with 10 laps to go, and Geiss shed his rivals in the third spot. The caution waved again with 31 laps complete after a tangle on the front chute.

Nelson pushed up the track in turns three and four after the restart and slipped back, allowing Koch to race to the outside of Geiss in the fight for second. Koch made the pass, and had a few-length deficit to Sabraski. He pulled to his bumper with six laps to go, and ducked under in turns three and four. The top two broke away from Geiss with Nelson fourth and Niemeyer fifth. Tommy Bawden and 32nd-starter Bailey Rosch challenged Niemeyer for a spot in the top five.

Sabraski started to pull away again with three laps to go, although Koch continued to try different lines for speed. Nelson worked to the outside of Geiss in the final laps. Koch charged, but came up about three car lengths short at the checkered flag and Sabraski recorded the win. Nelson recovered for third with Geiss fourth and Niemeyer fifth. Rosch, Bawden, Lund, Ryan Kostreba and Johnson rounded out the top 10 after 40 laps.
