Rose races to first win and it places him on the front row of Saturday’s Street Stock Championship Feature at the 100

FERGUS FALLS, MN (September 19) - Kammron Rose’s first-ever feature win came during the biggest week in WISSOTA racing. The Wheeler, WI driver held off the Street Stock national point leader Levi Randt to earn the middle of the front row for Saturday’s championship feature.

Friday’s 20-lap WISSOTA Street Stock Qualifying Feature — held Saturday afternoon — transferred eight cars to the championship feature on Saturday night. Rose grabbed the initial lead, while Cody Hatch and Alex Grinager battled for second. After a lap-one caution, Grinager secured second and Cail Tinker worked to the outside of Hatch for third. Another caution fell with two laps scored after a melee in the second corner.

Levi Randt started 11th on the original grid and had a good restart; he used the high groove to work into fourth and looked to the outside of Tinker for third, but had also to fend off Chris Dudley to keep his position. Randt picked off Tinker, and ducked under Grinager for second on lap eight before a caution flag negated the pass.

Randt secured second when the race resumed and stayed with Rose; Grinager led Tinker in the race for third. Tinker appeared to lose power and was turned around with nine laps scored. Another caution fell with 10 laps scored.

Randt turned up the heat on Rose after the restart, but could not find an opening through. Hatch worked on Grinager for third, while Dudley held fifth ahead of Zach Flickinger. Rose and Randt pulled away from the pack, and Randt remained glued to the leader’s left rear before the caution waved again with five laps to go.

The top two continued their fight after the restart, and Grinager kept ahead of Hatch and Dudley in the top five. Despite Randt’s pressure in the final laps, Rose hung on for the milestone win and earned a front-row start for the championship feature. Randt was second, ahead of Grinager, Hatch, Mike Jans, Dudley, Flickinger and Darek Turner.

The Qualifying Feature for the Friday portion of the program was determined by five, eight-lap heat races, with the top 24 in passing points making the cut.

In the first heat, an opening lap crash eliminated nearly half the field. Under green, Landon Albertson maintained a slim lead over Michael Brockman until two laps to go, when his right front tire came off the rim. Brockman took over at the point and netted the victory, and Albertson held on to claim second over Bryan Johnson. Adam Dehne and Charlie Shiek rounded out the top five.

Chris Dudley dominated the entirety of heat two from the outside of the front row. Dale Louwagie picked off Cole Kannegiesser after a mid-race restart, then had to hold off the charge of 10th-starter Alex Grinager in the last laps to keep the position. Kannegiesser and Greg Platzer completed the top five.

The third heat had its share of trouble getting started, including a rollover by Aaron Sigerud out of turn four. Cail Tinker led the distance for the victory in the third heat. Zach Flickinger moved by Kegan Stueve for second after an early restart, and Cody Hatch displaced Stueve for third in the closing laps. Jonathan Olmscheid was fifth.

Six of the nine scheduled starters took the green flag in heat four. A three-car battle for the lead broke out in the opening half, before Rose assumed control and pulled away in the second half. Dylan Arndt, who led the opening four laps, held off Dustin Schultz for second, with Cory Moser fourth and Jeff Sekuterski fifth at the checkered flag.

Cole Richards powered to the lead in turn one of the final heat race, but Levi Randt slid ahead on lap two. After an early restart, Mike Jans worked by Richards into second. Jans closed on Randt on the last lap, but had to settle for second. Richards was third ahead of Jeff Ekdahl and Darek Turner.

The Street Stocks contested two Last Chance Qualifiers, with the top three from each making the cut for the WISSOTA 100 main event.

In the opening 12-lap race, Jeff Ekdahl passed Kegan Stueve for the top spot out of turn four on the opening lap. Dustin Schultz pulled into third on lap two, and Bryan Johnson gave chase in fourth.

Johnson grabbed third after a lap-four restart, but Mark Blom rolled around the outside of Schultz for fourth, and the three drivers had a tight battle for the final transfer spot. Blom used the upper groove and made the move for third on lap seven.

Eckdahl ran away for the victory, Stueve was second, Blom was the final transfer in third, Johnson was fourth and Kholin Harmon rounded out the top five.

Adam Dehne grabbed the initial lead in LCQ two, with Dylan Arndt second and Chris Behrens ahead of a mad scramble in third. Behrens worked on Arndt for second, and claimed the spot on lap four. Both drivers closed on Dehne, and had a gap back to Wyatt Brooker in fourth.

Dehne fended off a challenge from Behrens, but lost control of his machine and spun at the exit of the turn two. Dehne forfeited the lead and dropped to the tail of the field with two laps to go.

Behrens and Arndt maintained first and second, while Cole Kannegiesser and Devan Schultz were door to door for third in the last two laps. Schultz edged ahead on the final lap, and held off Kannegeisser and Dale Louwagie to transfer into the main event.
