FERGUS FALLS, MN (September 10) - Dylan Nelson was dominant on his run to victory in Wednesday night’s WISSOTA Super Stock Qualifying Feature. The 2023 champion of the WISSOTA 100 earned the pole in his bid to become a repeat winner on the biggest stage in WISSOTA Auto Racing.

Nelson started on the outside of the front row when the green flag waved over the 15-lap main event. He edged away from the battle for second, where Shane Sabraski challenged polesitter Tommy Bawden. Sabraski secured the runner-up spot on lap two and gave chase to the leader, while Dustin Nelson tested Bawden for a spot on the podium.

The top two had broken away from the pack with a handful of laps recorded. Bawden remained in third, but Dustin Nelson, Trevor Nelson and Travis Scott created a four-car battle. The two No. 71s of Trevor Nelson and Scott came together on the frontstretch and Nelson was forced into the wall; he continued briefly, but exited the speedway with handling issues around the halfway point.

Dylan Nelson had opened a little breathing room at the head of the pack after the crossed flags. Sabraski held second while Dustin Nelson and Bawden remained engaged in a side-by-side battle. Dexton Koch, who started 11th, pressured Scott for fifth with five laps to go.

The leader had opened nearly a straightaway advantage with two laps left, and Nelson took the victory by just over 2 seconds ahead of Sabraski. The battle for third raged to the checkers, where Dustin Nelson took the spot over Bawden. Scott just held off Koch for fifth, with Alex Myers and Jake Luark finishing in the top eight and locking themselves into the inside row of Saturday’s Championship Feature if they accepted their position.

Two drivers — Koch and Alex Myers — declined their positions in the Championship Feature, and 11th-place Austin Niemeyer and 13th-place Tristan LaBarge were the next drivers to accept.

The Super Stocks contested five heat races with the top 24 in passing points advancing into the evening’s qualifying feature.

Bailey Rosch topped the first heat race after a tight battle late with Scott. Rosch led most of the distance with early pressure from LaBarge and Scott. After a late restart, Scott pulled ahead briefly in the closing laps, but Rosch regained the lead and scored the win. Scott was second ahead of LaBarge, Kolby Kiehl and Ryan Satter.

Dylan Nelson stole the lead from Dylan Kromschroeder after an early restart, and led the rest of the way for the victory in heat two. Sabraski picked his way forward from sixth and grabbed second at the halfway point, and Kromschroeder settled for third. Denis Czech and Curt Myers rounded out the top five.

Alex Myers started on the pole and ran away to victory in the third heat. Dustin Nelson charged from fifth to second on the opening lap, and maintained that spot to the checkers. Luark held off Justin Tammen for third, and Bodie Smith finished fifth after starting 10th.

Bawden put on a dominant performance to win the fourth heat race. Brayden Hedtke finished a distant second while Russell Kostreba held off Austin Niemeyer for third. Doug Koski was fifth.

Koch left the pack early in the final heat race, while Trevor Nelson and Andrew Hedtke tussled for second. After a late restart, Nelson made an attempt at the win, but Koch barely held on for victory. Andrew Hedtke was third ahead of Jay Hedtke and Max Nelson.
