FERGUS FALLS, MN (September 12) - Kyle Dykhoff’s victory Friday night in the WISSOTA Street Stock Qualifying Feature - No. 17 for the 2025 season - put him in the middle of the front row for Saturday night’s Championship Feature.
The top 24 drivers in passing points lined up for the night’s qualifier, with Chris Behrens and Dykhoff on the front row. Head flagman Mike Blom brought the event to life and Dykhoff jumped out to the early advantage ahead of Justin Vogel and Hunter Carter. Dykhoff led lap one before the caution blinked on for Ken Harmon, who suffered front end damage and spun to the infield, ending his night.
With the green back out, Dykhoff planted his No. 11 machine in the middle groove with Vogel, Carter, Nick Traynor, and Levi Randt in tow. As the pack continued to blister the speedway, the main battle on the track was between Josh Long and Behrens for the eighth and final transfer spot.
As the top seven got in line and raced around the 3/8th-mile speedway, Long worked to the inside of Behrens at the midway point and raced into eighth.
With the laps ticking down on the scoreboard, Traynor looked first to the inside of Carter for the third spot, then to the outside, but each time Carter fought him off. With only two laps remaining, Dykhoff began to work his way through lapped traffic, but was able to navigate by on the high side of the track with Vogel in tow. Dykhoff drove on to the win ahead of Vogel, Carter, Traynor, Randt, Mike Jans, Cody Hatch, and Long in the top eight.
The first heat races Friday belonged to the Street Stocks. Fifty-one drivers were split into six heat races for the evening. Ken Harmon and Rodney Hulst brought the first heat race to the green; with a good battle shaping up in the front of the field, Kyle Dykhoff began his march to the front. Dykhoff took the lead early in the contest and never looked back as he raced to the win from sixth. Harmon and Tony Miller completed the top three.
Scott Dillenburg scratched from heat two, shaking up the lineup. From the drop of the green, it was apparent that Cody Hatch had the car to beat, as he raced to the heat win ahead of father-son duo Jordan and Spencer Johnson in the caution-laden event.
A pair of central Minnesota drivers manned the front row for heat three, with Mike Flickinger and Charlie Shiek bringing the field to green. Traynor raced to the front early from ninth and cruised to the heat race win ahead of Hunter Carter and Coltyn Schuler in the top three.
The front row of heat four featured a pair of Gopher State drivers: Ortonville’s Dylan Arndt and Benson’s Scott Huston. Huston was able to jump to the lead in another caution-filled eight-lap affair, but was ultimately overtaken by seventh-starter Behrens, who raced to the win. Colsten Schultz was second and Jans third.
All eyes in heat five were on row four, where former national champion Vogel began his quest to qualify for Friday’s feature after some rough luck earlier in the week. Vogel quickly worked his way up into the top three, then passed Ethan Iiams to pick up the heat race win.
Randt started in seventh in the sixth and final heat race, making his way into the lead with two laps to go when race leader Greg Jose left the bottom open down the backstretch. Randt scored the victory ahead of Jose and Adam Dehne in the top three.
