Simpson, Simpson, Henny, Chernosky & Owen outrun rivals as Thunder City goes a day late after rain
THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO (August 27) - It was an all-Canada victory lane Thursday night at Thunder City Speedway, as the Thunder Bay, Ontario-area race track bounced back from a Wednesday night rainout to hold one of their final races heading into invitational season.
WISSOTA Dirt Track Series winners included Cole Chernosky, Nathan Henny, Rick Simpson, David Simpson and Jimmy Owen.
Chernosky started in the second row of the WISSOTA Modified feature, and grabbed the lead in the waning laps to score the win. Curtis Stieh was less than a second behind in the runner-up spot, while 10th-starter Colin Chaschuk finished his charge through the field on the podium in third. David Simpson and Riley Matthews completed the top five.
Rick Simpson led from start to finish from his fifth starting spot to garner the victory in the WISSOTA Super Stocks. Ryan House, Joshua Oleksuk, 10th-starter Nathan Roy and 12th-starter Tyler Kostecki rounded out the top five.

In the WISSOTA Midwest Mods, David Simpson drove into the lead with about seven laps in the books and held on through remaining 13 tours around the speedway to take the victory. Twelfth-starter Hunter Brink worked his way into second at the checkered flag, while Kevin Monteith completed the podium. Seventeenth-starter Michael Shalley finished his charge through the field in fourth, and Joel Macleod was fifth.
Nathan Henny started outside of the third row in the WISSOTA Street Stocks, moving into the lead with a handful of laps completed. He continued to hold down the top spot en route to the checkered flag for the win. A.J. Keller was steady in second, Brendan Makkinga was third, 10th-starter Justin Tougas was fourth, and Kathryn Stieh completed the top five.

In the WISSOTA Hornets, Jimmy Owen found victory lane once again, as he led from start to finish and narrowly held off Selena Owen for the win. James Cuthbertson, Jesse Owen and Avery Chaschuk completed the top five.
Taylor Riabov was the winner in the Junior Slingshots.
