The season may be winding down, but Skorczewski, Stearns, Nelson, Adams and Rossow continue chasing checkers at Miller, SD

MILLER, SD August 2) - Fans and drivers gathered in Miller, South Dakota Saturday night for another round of WISSOTA Dirt Track Series racing, as the season begins to wind down at Miller Central Speedway.

Winners in sanctioned action Saturday included Josh Skorczewski, Mike Stearns, Trevor Nelson, Andy Rossow and Blake Adams.

Skorczewski started on the pole of the WISSOTA Late Model feature, but Chad Becker was the early leader from his front-row starting spot. Disaster struck in the closing laps as Becker and a lapped car were involved in a get-together. Skorczewski inherited the lead and drove home for the victory. He was followed across the finish line by Dustin Arthur, Mike Stearns, Konner Sperle, and Russell Beadle in the top five.

In the WISSOTA Modifieds, only three cars of the short field finished the feature, with Stearns netting the win. Tyler Anglin and Andy Brooker were the final finishers in the field in second and third, respectively.

Adams’ journey to the win in the WISSOTA Midwest Mods came from the front row. Though he held second behind polesitter Lorin Johnson for the first half of the race, he was able to get by Johnson about lap seven and drove off to a more than 6 second advantage at the finish. Johnson, Dawson Zabel, Jayme Peterson and Todd Stark completed the top five.

Trevor Nelson (Allen Becker Photo)

Nelson worked his way forward from the fourth row and into the lead by lap five of the WISSOTA Super Stock feature. From there, he built a more than 7 second lead ahead of Robin Schmitt at the finish. Derek Zastrow, Brad Kopecky, and 11th-starter Andrew Zastrow rounded out the top five.

Cody Songer was the winner in the track’s Pure Stock class.
