Nelson, Tofte, Jans and Lange lock down Friday night victories at Fiesta City Speedway

By Chad Adamson

MONTEVIDEO, MN (August 14) - During a night to honor the track’s Pure Stock class with a high-paying special, several WISSOTA Dirt Track Series classes were in action as well. Winners in sanctioned action Friday night in Montevideo included Scott Tofte, Mike Jans, Trevor Nelson, and William Lange.

Matt Weinmann took the lead to begin the WISSOTA Midwest Modified feature. Near the midway point of the race, Weinmann and Scott Tofte battled for the lead until Tofte came across the finish line first on the final lap. The win was Tofte's first victory at Fiesta City Speedway since he got a win in the Outlaw Modified class in 1996. Weinmann had to settle for second, while 13th-starter Justin Bjorklund charged to third at the checkered flag. Jake Wranek and Tim Kanten completed the top five.

Mike Jans led the entire WISSOTA Street Stock feature for his second win of the season, as he held off Keith Tourville throughout the majority of the race. Justin Vogel, Alex Grinager and Micheal Brockman rounded out the top five.

Trevor Nelson led the entire WISSOTA Super Stock feature for his first win of the year at Fiesta City Speedway. He was chased to the checkered flag by Ryan Satter, Karter Reents, William Lund and Travis Scott in the top five.

Jerik Stabler led the entire WISSOTA Hornet feature as he held off William Lange, but was disqualified during post-race inspection, handing the win to Lange. The win was Lange's sixth of the season. He was followed across the stripe by Adam VanDerostyne, Paxton Tjaden, Riley Bormann and Brett Moffenbier in the top five.

A total of 14 Pure Stocks were on hand for their 15-lap, $500-to-win special. Justin Erp led the entire feature for his first win in the class at Fiesta City Speedway.
