Terry was a talented saxophone player who also taught himself to play piano and guitar by ear. He always maintained ties to his hometown, where he maintained several lifelong friendships. He also enjoyed planning and coordinating class reunions for the class of ’65.

His love for racing began in 1978 as flagman in Jamestown, ND. He drove a Late Model for two years before taking on the administrative and working roles he so enjoyed. He served as the promoter of Jamestown Speedway, as well as being part of a club for 20 years. In 1996 he became the promoter of Brown County Speedway, a role he held until 2008. Throughout all of these years, he also spent time as flagman for various tracks. He served as president of the WISSOTA Promoter’s Association for a number of years before he was hired as WISSOTA’s first executive director, a position he held for seven years. He returned to Brown County Speedway as a co-promoter in 2016, a position which he held until his death.

Terry enjoyed attending NSU basketball games and was an active member of the Wolves Club.

Nothing was more important to Terry than love and family, and he leaves behind many family members who will cherish their memories of him.

He is survived by his wife, Jane, Aberdeen; his daughters, Chantel and Chandra, both of Aberdeen; his son Travis (Lindsey) of Jamestown, ND; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; his sister Lana (Tony) Frederick of Yankton; his two honorary brothers; nephews Greg (Teena) Frederick, Sioux Falls and Steve (Cathy) Voeltz, of West Fargo, ND; and many nieces, nephews, and special friends from throughout his life.

The family would like to thank Dr. Conklin, Dr. Gundewar and Dr. Myrmoe, as well the entire staff at the Avera Cancer Center for their kind care and compassion during Terry’s illness.
