Peterlin, Ripley, Rivord, Stuart, Smith and Gotelaere get the last laugh Sunday at Proctor

PROCTOR, MN (August 10) - Proctor Speedway hosted First Responders Night Sunday, as well as the KME Late Model Series.

When the final checkered flag fell, WISSOTA Dirt Track Series winners included Kyle Peterlin, Paul Ripley, Jack Rivord, Steve Stuart, Jake Smith and Carson Gotelaere.

In the WISSOTA Midwest Mods, Ripley started on the pole and led from start to finish. He had a gang of tough customers on his bumper throughout the race, but won by more than 2 seconds on the top-dominant track ahead of national points frontrunners Tyler Vernon and Joey Jensen. Jacob Anderson and Kolby Reed completed the top five.

Stuart started in the third row of the WISSOTA Super Stock feature, making his way to the bumper of leader Scott Lawrence early in the feature. Lawrence was tailed by Stuart for several laps, with Lawrence planted firmly in the faster upper line and Stuart unable to find enough traction through the middle and along the low side to build the momentum needed for the pass.

With five laps left, Lawrence left a lane open on the ultra high side and Stuart pressed the issue on top as Lawrence led him into turn four; as Lawrence moved back to that lane coming to the start/finish line, Stuart was squeezed out and made contact with the wall.

Stuart regrouped and with two to go, and used the top side off the second turn to dive down to the inside of Lawrence down the backstretch; he had enough to slide up in front of Lawrence and grabbed the lead. Lawrence attempted to return the slider in turns one and two during the final lap, but slid up and over the berm and Stuart drove on for the victory. Lawrence, Austin Blom, Shawn McFadden and Don Livingston were top-five finishers.

Rivord started from the front row of the WISSOTA Modified feature and was the early leader. Nick Oreskovich, Jody Bellefeuille, Brandon Copp and Darrell Nelson held top-five spots early, with drivers attempting the low side but quickly migrating back to the top - which had become more tricky - as the laps continued to pass by. Copp overshot the top side in turn four and spun, bringing out the caution with three laps in the books.

Back under green Rivord continued to lead, with Oreskovich holding second but under pressure from Bellefeuille, who was trying to make the bottom and middle work for him. Another caution with five laps in the books fell for debris.

Rivord was out front under green, as Oreskovich, Bellefeuille, Nelson and Balduc held top-five spots. Through two more cautions the field settled into the top lane and no one had anything for Rivord, as he took the victory ahead of Oreskovich, Bellefeuille, Nelson and 10th-starter Brady Uotinen in the top five.

Jamie Lautigar was the early leader in the WISSOTA Late Model feature, with Harry Hanson and Kyle Peterlin fighting back and forth for second, and Darrell Nelson right to their bumpers.

With 15 laps to go, Lautigar began to approach the back of the field. Hanson closed the gap along the low side of the speedway, and made the pass using a lapped car as a pick out of turn four three laps later. Lautigar was then under fire from Peterlin for second, with Peterlin taking the spot two turns later. Nelson followed through to third a lap later.

With heavy lapped traffic ahead of him, Hanson stayed along the low side while Peterlin moved to the top - free from traffic - and took the lead. Contact back in the field jostled the running order, with Nelson moving into second.

Out front, Peterlin took the checkered flag ahead of Jeff Massingill, who supplanted Nelson to third in the final turn. Heinle and Hanson were top-five finishers.

Following an early caution for contact throughout mid pack in the WISSOTA Pure Stocks that ended in a Shane Basina spin, Aaron Bernick was the early leader ahead of Tom Treviranus and Rob Christman in the top three.

After the restart Smith took to the high side, moved into second and then took the lead the next time by with a slight advantage. Bernick remained close in second, ahead of Eric Crosby and Tom Treviranus. Treviranus regained third from Crosby, and then got past Bernick for second with a few laps to go.

Smith drove on to the victory, ahead of Treviranus, Crosby, Bernick and Joshua Loucks in the top five. It was Smith’s first feature win at the track in 2025.

In the WISSOTA Hornets, Spencer Smith was the early leader ahead of Nick Ruzich, Nathan Penney, Carson Gotelaere and McKenna Folstad.

Following two cautions, Smith continued to lead ahead of a heavy battle among the top five for position. Ruzich remained in second, with Gotelaere moving into third and pressuring Ruzich for runner-up honors. Gotelaere got the spot a lap later.

Gotelaere used the inside lane to grab the lead with two to go, and he drove off to another victory at Proctor. Ruzich displaced Smith to third in the final turns, with Folstad and Penney completing the top five.
