Brown County fans see fireworks plus wins by Weisgram, Arment, Schipke, Weight & Bogh

ABERDEEN, SD (July 3) - Brown County Speedway returned to regular WISSOTA Dirt Track Series action with its firework spectacular special. There was a total of 88 drivers on hand for Friday night’s event.

Jayden Bogh, Brennan Weight, Kent Arment, Stewart Schipke and Thomas Weisgram were all victorious in their respective WISSOTA classes.

The WISSOTA Street Stocks kicked off the night with 16 drivers on hand. Chris Serr and Clifford Houser led the field to green and Serr grabbed the lead on the second lap.

Serr rolled the bottom as Jodie Michaelsohn rolled the top and began to challenge Serr for the lead. Michaelsohn began to diamond the corners, which left the top open for Jayden Bogh, and he took advantage of it, moving to Serr’s outside.

As the battle was getting good, Serr’s motor popped coming to four to go, which drew the lone caution in the event. The misfortune for Serr gave the lead to Bogh, with Michaelsohn and Houser on his bumper.

As they took green Bogh slowly pulled away and Maria Broksieck and Cole Greseth moved past Houser to get into third and fourth. Michaelsohn peeked to Bogh’s inside a few times, but Bogh rolled the middle fending off the No. 54 machine. Bogh picked up his second win of the year at BCS, becoming the first repeat winner in the WISSOTA Street Stocks at the track. Michaelsohn, Broksieck, Greseth and Tony Smith rounded out the top five.

Brennon Weight (Track Photo)

The WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds came out next with another 16 drivers in their field. A pair of North Dakotans in Kyle Anderson and Brennon Weight started on the front row. Weight grabbed the lead on the third lap after battling Anderson for the spot.

As the field ripped around the speedway, Weight began to open up an advantage as Todd Stark began to battle with Anderson for second. The first caution struck with 11 to go.

On the restart Weight launched out ahead, while Anderson regained control of second and Stark was under fire from Dawson Zabel for third. As they battled side by side for multiple laps, Zabel got tight out of two and made contact with Stark, which sent him spinning to draw the caution flag again.

On what was the final restart with six to go, Stark found something on the bottom to take second away from Anderson and he began battling Weight for the lead. However, Weight ripped the top side and was too strong for Stark on the bottom. During the closing laps Weight opened a straightaway lead and ran off to score his first win at BCS in 2026. Stark, Taylor Schmidt, Anderson and Jake Wranek rounded out the top five.

Kent Arment (Track Photo)

A pair of Aberdeen drivers sat on the front row in the WISSOTA Modifieds, with Kent Arment and Mike Rohwedder bringing the 11-car field to green. Arment drove into the top spot on the opening lap, but caution struck on lap two.

Arment got to the top first and brought Mike Stearns along with him. As soon as they both found the cushion, it was on between the two of them. Stearns closed in on Arment multiple times, but could not find a run around him.

The top two found lapped traffic with nine to go and moved through it easily. Stearns closed in with only three to go, but fell back on the final lap, as Arment held on to score his second win in the WISSOTA Modifieds this year. He and Stearns crossed the line over a half lap ahead of third-place finisher Jesse Young. Rohwedder and Nate Heinrich completed the top five.

Stewart Schipke (Track Photo)

The WISSOTA Super Stocks rolled out with 16 drivers on hand, and Wyatt Schweigert and Stewart Schipke led the field to green. Schipke used the middle of the track to drive into the top spot.

By the third lap, Trevor Nelson worked his way up to the cushion and took over second. Nelson then reeled in Schipke along the top side. The top two separated themselves from the field. Nelson was a line higher than Schipke and tried to poke his nose to the outside a few times, but Schipke made his car nice and wide.

The caution struck with 10 to go and on the restart Nelson tried to roll the bottom, but after a lap or two he went back to the cushion. With six to go he jumped the cushion in turn four, which sent him tailback for the yellow.

After a few cautions, the field went green with four to go again. This time Mark Abeln challenged Schipke, but Schipke continued to roll the middle of the track and fended off Abeln.

On the final lap, Schweigert rolled the bottom to take back second, but Schipke held on overall to score his first win of the 2026 season. Abeln, Dominique Menzia, and Derek Zastrow completed the top five.

Thomas Weisgram (Track Photo)

Finally the WISSOTA Late Models rolled out 16 drivers deep. Ryan Baumgart and Chad Becker led the field to green and as they went off into turn one, Baumgart found the slick, which sent him spinning. He collected Trevor Anderson, Chase Gelling, Ben Hunt, Cody Martin and Roger Bitz. Anderson and Baumgart ended up rolling over; both drivers were okay but everyone involved except Martin was done for the night.

With the field reracked, that put Thomas Weisgram to Becker’s outside and Weisgram used it to his advantage, immediately hooking up to the cushion taking the lead into one.

Weisgram began to work through lapped traffic with 17 to go, and Becker was hot on his coattails bringing Arment and Josh Skorczewski with him.

Weisgram was perfect on the cushion, however, and he did not bobble once, which led to him opening a straightway lead and winning by that margin over Becker. The win was Weisgram’s second straight Late Model win at BCS. Becker, Arment, Josh Skorczewski and Mike Stearns completed the top five.

The INEX Legends were also in attendance with 13 drivers on hand. The race was a fun one to watch with drivers searching all over the track for the best line. In the end Preston Martin grabbed his second win at BCS in 2026 ahead of Ryan Urdahl, Donovan Weist and T.J. Pfeiffer.
