Doar, Sabraski, Koch, VandeKamp, Gullikson and Fosso are the heard-hitting half dozen at Ogilvie

OGILVIE, MN (July 25) - Ogilvie Raceway celebrated Hawaiian night Saturday, July 25. WISSOTA Dirt Track Series winners during this festive night included Shane Sabraski, Pat Doar, Jim Gullikson, Dexton Koch, Jason VandeKamp, and Brady Fosso.

Levi Randt was the early leader in the WISSOTA Street Stocks, with Charlie Shiek close behind in second. Sam Fankhauser and Jim Gullikson were third and fourth before the caution fell for Randt at the front of the field for a solo spin.

Fankhauser led the field back to green, but Gullikson quickly moved in and used the high side to get by the No. 11. A couple more cautions kept the field at a stop-and-go pace.

Back under green Jeff Ekdahl, who had moved into second, Fankhauser and Randt - who had quickly returned from the back to the top five - raced three wide for runner-up honors behind Gullikson.

During the final four laps, Randt motored past Fankhauser into second. During the white flag lap, one final caution brought the field back together.

Randt capitalized back under green, as Ekdahl drifted up the track in turn two and down the backstretch during the final go-round, grabbing second behind Gullikson. Fankhauser, Braedyn Fleck and Ekdahl completed the top five.

VandeKamp was the leader from the start from his pole starting spot in the WISSOTA Midwest Mods, following two early cautions on the start. Tate Kostreba and Dane Durbin fought for second, before Durbin drove into the spot and Kostreba fell back through the top five. Landyn Randt was on the move from seventh, getting by into fourth just behind Ben Lewis in third before another caution regrouped the field.

Randt moved to third under green, while VandeKamp continued to lead Durbin. Durbin started to make ground on VandeKamp along the high side, before VandeKamp moved up the track and scooted away once more. Back-to-back cautions brought the field to a halt once more.

With the green back out over the field, VandeKamp took off in the lead once again, with Randt throwing a slider at the No. 16. VandeKamp crossed him back over and those two ran off to finish it themselves, with Durbin holding off Kostreba in fourth.

With two to go, Randt was in striking distance once again, but VandeKamp was able to hold off his charge and capture the victory. Randt, Durbin, Kostreba and Jacob Toepper completed the top five.

Doar started from the pole in the WISSOTA Late Model feature and escaped with the early lead ahead of Devin Fouquette and Dexton Koch. A caution fell early for debris, which was followed by another caution among four cars along the backstretch.

Doar was solidly in the lead back under green, as Sabraski worked his way into second and Tyler Peterson took third from Fouquette. Harry Hanson and Kevin Burdick were also in the top five mix. With seven laps in the books, Peterson took second from Sabraski and set off after Doar. A slider with 13 to go from Peterson was met with the crossover from Doar. Burdick moved into third and was side by side with Peterson for second, briefly taking the spot and then the lead from Doar with nine to go.

Doar and Burdick continued to trade the top spot back and forth as they flew around the Big O, with Peterson about 1.5 seconds behind in third. With lapped traffic along the bottom lane, Burdick was forced to leave his preferred line and briefly bobbled along the berm, allowing Doar to get away and Peterson to regain second.

Doar drove on in the final laps to grab the victory ahead of Peterson, Burdick, Sabraski and Hanson.

Nathan Penney took the lead from Brady Fosso with five laps in the books of the WISSOTA Hornet feature, before a caution allowed Fosso to regroup. Penney and Fosso remained side by side for several laps, with Fosso regaining the lead with four to go. Penney gave it one final shot on the last lap, but Fosso held onto his advantage and took the win ahead of Penney, Randy Jacoboski, William Lange and Adam Throener in the top five.

Sabraski pulled away from the onset of the WISSOTA Modified feature from his pole starting spot, leaving Ryan Gierke and Nick Ayotte to fight over second. Ayotte held the spot and then worked his way back toward Sabraski in the lead, while Eric Lamm and Jody Bellefeuille closed in on the bumper of Gierke in third. With 12 laps in the books, Bellefeuille took advantage of a Gierke-Lamm skirmish and drove into third. A caution then fell for a stalled racer on the backstretch.

The restart breathed life into Bellefeuille, who drove to Sabraski’s bumper. With nine laps in the books he pulled even with Sabraski, but was unable to capitalize. Gierke also found a little extra on the ultra high lane of the track and took third, then took advantage of a Bellefeuille cushion bobble for second. Ayotte also slipped past Bellefeuille to third. Sabraski was in the clear during the final tours around the Big O and he drove home with the win. Gierke, Ayotte, Bellefeuille and Lamm rounded out the top five.

Ryan Kostreba was the early leader in the WISSOTA Super Stock feature, before Sabraski drove by for the spot with three laps complete. Farther back, eighth-starter Dexton Koch was tearing around the Big O, using the high side to his advantage in the early laps and then taking the low side around Kostreba for second.

Koch continued to work his way into contention for the lead behind Sabraski, while Mike Loomis held third. Within two more laps Koch was right to Sabraski’s bumper, and drove by on the inside and into the lead with four to go. Koch continued on to the checkered flag ahead of Sabraski, Loomis, Kostreba and Dylan Kromschroeder in the top five.
