Schipke scores first DSFS feature win in nearly 20 years Saturday at the big Huron, SD dirt track

HURON, SD (July18) - Stewart Schipke inked his first win in nearly 20 years at Dakota State Fair Speedway on Saturday during the inaugural Mackenzie Kopecky Memorial Super Stock Special. Mike Stearns, Lane Johnson and Broc Stout also posted WISSOTA Dirt Track Series wins at the Huron oval.
Schipke started eighth in the 26-car field, which took the green flag for the $2,005-to-win event. It was the sixth feature win of his career at the Huron track and first since August 15, 2006.
In addition to the top prize money, Schipke received a $2,200 bounty, which was put up on Super Stock points leader Trevor Nelson, who had reached victory lane on four occasions this season. Schipke donated all but $200 of the bonus back to the Mackenzie Kopecky Scholarship Fund.
Jordan Henkemeyer, who started second in the 20-lap main event and finished in that spot, was the top of four Minnesota drivers who made the trek west in the race.
Bryson North was third, followed by Mike Rohwedder, who was piloting the No. 20 machine owned by Jeremy North. Austin Arbogast rounded out the top five.

Stout broke into the win column for the first time this season in the WISSOTA Street Stock division on Saturday. He has finished second on three occasions this season at the Huron oval.
Stout started sixth in the 20-car field and worked his way to the front during the 15-lap feature race.
Matt Goth started on the pole and followed Stout across the finish line in second. James Hoing was third, followed by DSFS newcomer Alex Grinager and Dylan Arndt.

Lane Johnson also claimed his first win of the season in the WISSOTA Midwest Modified division. He started on the outside of the front row in the 16-car field. It was his fourth career victory at DSFS and first since June 6, 2024.
Dawson Zabel gained five spots to finish second, while Lorin Johnson and Luke Johnson were third and fourth, respectively.
Rounding out the top five was Jayme Peterson.

Mike Stearns earned his second win of the season in the WISSOTA Late Model feature race Saturday. It was the 11th win of his career at the Huron oval.
Chad Becker was second, followed by Justin Karlen, Dustin Arthur and Ryan Baumgart in the top five.
