Adams goes two-for-two in open-wheeled action Sunday at Granite City Motor Park
SAUK RAPIDS, MN (July 13) - Blake Adams doubled up on feature wins Sunday night at Granite City Motor Park. Adams earned the trophies in the Modifieds and Midwest Modifieds, while Dexton Koch, Jim Gullikson, Connor Bruss and Anthony Jenson also collected WISSOTA Dirt Track Series wins.
Adams started on the front row of the WISSOTA Modified main event, and led every lap en route to his third win of the season at the oval. Joseph Thomas moved into second by the halfway point of the race, and chased Adams across the line. Lance Schilling, Cole Chernosky and Zach Benson rounded out the top five.
Adams also turned a front-row start into a dominating win in the WISSOTA Midwest Modified main event. He led every lap and raced to the checkered flag with a nearly four second advantage over Landyn Randt, Luke Erlandson, Chance Kodet and Justin Jensen. The victory was Adams’ first this season at the speedway in the Midwest Mods.
Koch took advantage of his front row redraw in the WISSOTA Super Stock main event, and raced away into the night for his second win of the season at the speedway. Koch took the checkered flag five seconds ahead of second-place Austin Niemeyer. The third-place finisher was Denis Czech with Max Nelson fourth and Jake Luark fifth.
Gullikson did not run away to victory in the WISSOTA Street Stock main event. In fact, he used a last-lap pass to steal the win from former national champion Parker Anderson. Gullikson’s late-race heroics earned him his second win of the season at the speedway. Anderson settled for second with Trey Hess third, Tommy Pogones fourth and 13th-starter Levi Randt fifth.
Bruss continued his recent success with the WISSOTA Mod Four feature win, his first at the oval. Bruss led every lap, but did not run away from second-place finisher Dustin Holtquist, who finished less than a half-second back. Chad Erlandson, Robert Holtquist and Chad Funt rounded out the top five.
Jenson led every lap of the WISSOTA Hornet main event for his second win of the season at the oval. Braxton Schmitz was second ahead of Josh Backstrom, Randy Jacoboski and Russell Kiker, Jr.
