SUPERIOR, WI (June 27) - Cool temperatures and a week’s worth of rain resulted in unacceptable track conditions and forced officials at Gondik Law Speedway to cancel Friday’s race program.

The show was supposed to include action for the track’s six regular weekly offerings — WISSOTA Late Models, Modifieds, Super Stocks, Midwest Modifieds, Pure Stocks and Hornets.

Coming up next at will be the ninth annual “Great Lakes Border Battle” on Friday and Saturday, July 4-5. The event will include complete programs of heats, B features and main events on both nights and include events for the Structural Buildings WISSOTA Late Model Challenge Series (WLMCS), along with the Modifieds, Super Stocks, Midwest Modifieds and Pure Stocks each night.

On both nights the pit gates will open at 4 p.m., and the grandstand gates open at 5. Hot laps will start at 6:30 p.m., and then racing is slated to start at 7. A rain date of Sunday, July 6, has been set if needed.

While there are no races scheduled at GLS for the following weekend, the WLMCS will return on Friday, July 18, for the annual Twin Ports Twin 25s event. Modifieds, Pure Stocks and Hornets will join the Late Models for that night’s festivities.
