Thunder City rolls on and last Wednesday’s winners were Copp, Chernosky, Stieh, Randt and Ruzich

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO (June 3) - Thunder City Speedway hosted another round of WISSOTA Dirt Track Series racing Wednesday, June 3 and when the final checkered flag flew, fans saw a nice mix of Canadian racers and drivers from the States duke it out for wins.

Brandon Copp, Cole Chernosky, Curtis Stieh, Levi Randt, and Nick Ruzich all took home victories in WISSOTA-sanctioned action.

Copp started from the pole and led from flag to flag in the WISSOTA Modifieds, besting Chernosky by slightly more than 1 second. David Simpson, Colin Chaschuk and Riley Matthews completed the top five.

Chernosky’s victory in the WISSOTA Super Stocks was another flag-to-flag performance. He bounded away with a near 4-second advantage at the checkered flag ahead of Tyler Kostecki, Rick Simpson, Danny Young and Nathan Roy in the top five.

Stieh was the early leader from his third starting spot in the WISSOTA Midwest Mods, taking the top spot and keeping out front for every circuit of the 20-lapper. David Simpson, Michael Shalley, Jamie Davis and Joel Macleod were top-five finishers behind Stieh.

Randt grabbed the lead just past the halfway point in the WISSOTA Street Stock feature and grew his advantage to just over 1.7 seconds at the finish ahead of polesitter Darren Wolframe. Nathan Henny, Brendan Makkinga and Nate Owen completed the top five.

After a side-by-side battle with race leader Selena Owen, who left the race in the late stages with mechanical issues, Ruzich inherited the lead and held on to take the WISSOTA Hornet victory ahead of Martin Bolt, Jesse Owen, 11th-starter James Cuthbertson and 15th-starter Jimmy Owen.

In the track’s Junior Slingshots class, Trip Wolframe was victorious.
