Schow & Tourville top WISSOTA classes while Pierce puts away WoO Late Model field at I-94 Speedway

By Ron Krog

FERGUS FALLS, MN (June 24) - The last two years I-94 emr Speedway has tried to run a World of Outlaws Late Model show, but Mother Nature has had the last word. That changed Wednesday, as even with rain showers in the afternoon, Don Shaw and the track prep crew had the track race ready and started the show just 15 minutes late. Bobby Pierce picked up the win in a dynamite race that had action going on throughout the whole field.

The WISSOTA Street Stocks and Midwest Mods were support classes and both had nice car counts, with winners in WISSOTA-sanctioned action including Matt Schow and Keith Tourville.

The WISSOTA Street Stocks had a nice 20-car field on hand, with three of the top five in national points in the house. Dustin Schultz and Eric Riley sat on the front row of the feature and Riley took the early lead, but the red-hot Tourville caught Riley and took the top spot four laps in. Levi Randt was close in third, with Kyle Dykhoff closing in and Cole Greseth not far behind.

In the end, Tourville hung on for a hard-fought win ahead of Dykhoff, Randt, Riley and Greseth in the top five.

As is usually the case, a nice large field of 29 WISSOTA Midwest Mods filled the pits with some fast new faces joining the party. Luke Johnson took the lead in the feature and fought off several challenges early on, before Bailey Cousins came flying to the front with seven laps complete. Matt Schow was up to second at this point from his eighth starting spot.

With nine laps left, Schow grabbed the lead with Landon Randt jumping into second close behind. With one lap to go Randt threw a slider in turn one and took the lead, but Schow quickly returned the favor and grabbed his second straight win at I-94. Randt held on for second with Cousins strong in third ahead of Dylan McCaughan and Ron Saurer in the top five.
