At Fiesta City Speedway, Ireland striving for success with his voice

MONTEVIDEO, MN - Local Dawson man Scotty Ireland has taken over as lead announcer at Fiesta City Speedway, joined by Chad Adamson. If you have been at a local race track recently in western Minnesota, or a Dawson-Boyd sporting event within the past few years, you might hear a familiar voice while sitting in the stands at Fiesta City Speedway this season. Ireland has started announcing at the track, adding to his resume of tracks that already includes Madison Speedway weekly, as well as Redwood Speedway
Ireland says he is excited for this new challenge.
“I was never really good, or had any luck at racing itself, so I stay involved in the sport that I love by announcing,” said Ireland — a former Hornet racer. “I have always been good at numbers, and have a good memory, and like to entertain — which helps me out as my full-time mailman job duties as well, but this makes me still involved in the sport I love.”
Ireland also works part-time as the voice of all of his alma mater’s Dawson-Boyd Blackjacks, covering all of their home games via streaming networks, and works part-time for local radio stations, along with calling bingo at his local nursing home.
He also has a weekly radio show called Dirt Talk with Scotty, which airs on a slew of radio stations in western MN, and on his Facebook page every Monday.
Next time you go to your local track in western Minnesota, give a listen to the homegrown race track announcer and enjoy his quirky one liners.
And, as Scotty always leaves his shows, see ya at the track!
