Harken, Ferguson and Larson lead the way as Black Hills Speedway goes green on 2024 season

RAPID CITY, SD (May 10) - Kyle Harkin, Leonard Ferguson, and Dean Larson struck first to put their names down in the history books as Black Hills Speedway opener winners, taking WISSOTA Dirt Track Series victories Friday, May 10 during the track’s first 2024 race night.

Harkin started from the front row and led every lap of the WISSOTA Midwest Mod feature for the victory, his first of the year. He was followed to the checkered flag by Darin Hauff, Kyle Bertram, Jaren Puhlman and Paul Parks in the top five.

Ferguson’s foray into the lead in the WISSOTA Street Stocks occurred by lap five, and from there he led the next 10 laps to secure the victory, his first of the season. Cole Phillips, Les Cuny, Troy Murner and Jaren Puhlman were top-five finishers.

Dean Larson scored his fifth feature win in five starts, leading every lap of the WISSOTA Mod Four feature. Shelli Lind was second, Rob Arlund finished third, Tristan Torres was fourth and Kyle Hardesty completed the top five.

In the track’s other classes, Travis Reber and John Garrigan, Jr. were also victorious. No information about the completion of the Modified feature was available at press time.
