Searing leads all the way in Challenge Series stop Sunday at Sauk Rapids; Adams, Sabraski and Arnes also rock Granite City rivals
SAUK RAPIDS, MN (May 11) - Former Structural Buildings WISSOTA Challenge Series champion Cole Searing found his way back to victory lane Sunday night with the series, as the tour made a stop at Granite City Motor Park Sunday night, May 11. Searing led all 40 laps, lapping up to the eighth-place car and amassing a whopping 6.171 second advantage when the double checkered flags flew.
Other winners in WISSOTA Dirt Track Series action included Bobie Arnes, Blake Adams and Shane Sabraski.
A tough field of 19 WISSOTA Late Model competitors wrapped up their weekend in Sauk Rapids, MN, with Jeff Provinzino and Searing earning the front row for the night’s $3,000-to-win, 40-lap feature event. Searing got the upper hand on the initial start and led the opening lap.
Searing ran out front over the first five laps with Provinzino, Shane Sabraski, Jordan Tollakson and Zach Johnson inside the top five.
As the leader raced alone out front, the best battle on the track was for fourth between Tollakson, Josh Zimpel and Dave Mass, as those three swapped positions lap after lap just behind the leaders.
Searing led comfortably at the halfway point, while second was under protest; Sabraski rolled up on Provinzino and battled for the runner-up spot for several laps until he was able to blast by. He then set his sights on Searing, who continued to negotiate lapped traffic out front.
The remainder of the race ran nonstop with great action throughout the field. As Searing drove away from the field, Sabraski opened up a lead on the late-race battle for third — the spot Mass claimed, just ahead of Provinzino and Zimpel.
Searing drove uncontested to victory lane ahead of Sabraski, Mass, and Zimpel, who stole fourth from Provinzino at the line.
Bobie Arnes made best use of his front-row starting spot in the WISSOTA Hornet main, grabbing the victory ahead of Austin Jacobson, Brady Fosso, Alexis Reynolds and Max Post in the top five.
Shane Sabraski won the WISSOTA Super Stock feature, picking his way forward from outside of the fourth row to garner the eventual victory. Polesitter Denis Czech was second, Dexton Koch was third, Austin Niemeyer crossed the stripe in fourth, and Max Nelson was fifth.
Blake Adams won the WISSOTA Midwest Modified feature as well to round out the night. He had started in sixth and got by polesitter Landyn Randt for the victory. Jake Hagemann, Joey Jensen and Jake Smith were top-five finishers.
