Doar and Blaeser bag up the coin at 52nd annual Silver 1000 at Proctor Speedway
PROCTOR, MN (September 26) - As the “Granddaddy” of all WISSOTA racing specials, Proctor Speedway’s Silver 1000 has a long list of winners that reads as the veritable who’s who in WISSOTA Auto Racing history.
Thursday night, one of the best to ever wheel a Late Model in the sanctioning body put his name on the list once more, while an up-and-coming young racer added his name to the history books in the Modifieds. Pat Doar picked up yet another Silver 1000 victory in the WISSOTA Late Models, while Kaden Blaeser topped the WISSOTA Modifieds, giving Wisconsin the sweep in action at the Twin Ports-area race track in Minnesota.
Nick Oreskovich and Blaeser led the field of 24 Modifieds to the green flag from the front row. Blaeser was the early leader, while Jeff Wood, Adam Ayotte and Nick Oreskovich were three wide for second to complete lap one. A dustup in the back among several cars ended with Cole Spacek on his lid in turn four. He was okay, but was done for the night. No laps were completed and the field was reset.
Blaeser blasted back out to the lead following the full restart, with Oreskovich in second, Ayotte in third, Wood fourth and Bob Broking in fifth.
With five laps complete, Blaeser had more than a second lead. Oreskovich was second ahead of Ayotte, Broking and Wood, who flip-flopped their top-five spots.
Five laps later, Blaeser was working his way through lapped traffic. Oreskovich was second, Broking had worked his way to third, Ayotte was fourth and Gehl had worked his way into the top five. Just a couple laps later the caution fell for Ayotte, who came to a stop trying to exit the track and his night was over.
Blaeser led the restart once again, shaking off an aggressive slider from Broking, which resulted in contact shortly after the field took the green. Oreskovich was third, Gehl was fourth, and Jody Bellefeuille appeared in the top five.
With 10 laps to go, Blaeser had extended his lead to more than two seconds over Broking as he worked through lapped traffic once again. A yellow fell a lap later as Andrew Inman was stalled and done for the night.
Following the restart with nine to go, Oreskovich displaced Broking for second, as Bellefeuille moved to fourth ahead of Brady Uotinen. Out front, Blaeser’s No. 5 was dialed in and he had about a 1.5 second advantage with four to go.
As the checkered flag flew, Blaeser’s advantage was just 1.6 seconds as he coasted across the finish line with mechanical issues, hanging on for the big victory ahead of Oreskovich, seventh-starter Bellefeuille, ninth-starter Brady Uotinen and Tanner Gehl in the top five.
Pat Doar (Tom Krob Photo)
Jayme Lautigar and Jake Redetzke led the field of 25 WISSOTA Late Models to the green flag, with Redetzke the early leader. Provinzino moved past Lautigar to second, and Doar displaced him one more spot to fourth. Dustin Strand passed by Lautigar a couple laps later for fourth.
With five laps complete Redetzke had about a 1.5 second lead ahead of a fierce battle for second between Provinzino and Doar. A caution then appeared for a spun Lucas Lillo.
Back under green, Doar slipped past Provinzino and set off after Redetzke in the lead. Another caution for a get-together farther back in the field, involving several cars, brought the field back together for another try at a restart.
Redetzke led the restart once again, with pressure from Doar along the high side. Provinzino was third, Strand was under fire from Ashley Anderson for fourth.
Out front, Redetzke’s lead was a scant .335 seconds with 11 laps complete. Doar continued to show his nose to Redetzke from time to time, as they both moved past the start of the backmarkers in the field. George Ledin and Rick Niemi tangled just in front of the leaders and the field was back under caution with 14 laps complete.
Redetzke was back out front for the restart, with Doar and Provinzino side by side for second. Doar pulled away from Provinzino and closed in along the high side on Redetzke, just .113 seconds behind. A bit farther back Provinzino was under heavy pressure from Anderson for third. Strand completed the top five.
Past the halfway point Redetzke had pulled away to a lead of just shy of half a second, but was quickly approaching the back of the field. As he began to navigate the backmarkers, Doar was right back to his bumper. Provinzino continued in third, Anderson was still fourth, and Strand was holding his top-five spot.

With just 12 laps to go, Doar drove by Redetzke along the high side as they raced down the frontstretch, with Redetzke ultimately unable to respond with a lapped car directly ahead of him coming out of turn four and into turn one.
Doar then ran into his own trouble through lapped traffic, with a driver in his preferred high groove. Redetzke was able to close back in and when Doar slipped over the banking on the backstretch, Redetzke drove by on the bottom and slid back up in front of Doar in turn four, regaining the lead with four to go.
They were nearly side by side with three to go, with a lapped car ahead. Redetzke continued to lead with two to go, just .280 seconds ahead.
As they raced down the backstretch and into turns three and four on the final lap, Doar took to the high side and Redetzke dove down to the low side into the final corner; Redetzke drifted back up to the top into four and Doar crossed him over to the inside to take the victory by a scant .146 head of Redetzke in a thrilling finish. Anderson, Provinzino and Strand were top-five finishers.
It was Doar’s third Silver 1000 title in a Late Model.
